Preliminary contacts between the Football Association and the GSS regarding the departure of security guards with the Israeli team for the games against Albania (10.6) and Iceland (13.6).
The talks come with the intervention of the Ministry of Sports, against the background of the understanding that there is a real risk in flying to Albania.
In light of past experience, when there were actual warnings of harm to the Israeli delegation in 2016 and 2018, the understanding is that unnecessary risks must not be taken and the team taken out with private security, which is not skilled enough in situations of this kind.
The Football Association hopes that the issue will be resolved by the end of the week, as on June 8 the team will travel to Albania.
The Foreign Ministry staff committee, which imposes sanctions and refused to go out with the team, also now understands the importance of securing the team in its upcoming missions.
Meanwhile, the team will continue today (Monday) the preparations for the first game against Iceland, which will be held at Sami Ofer this coming Thursday.
Professional manager Yossi Benayoun and coach Alon Hazan are pleased that striker Sean Weissman will join his teammates today after last night qualifying for the first division in Spain together with Valladolid.
Weissman scored the first and most important goal in the promotion game and signed 20 goals in the second Spanish league this season.
