Gautinger SC and TSV Pentenried fight for the district class in the derby.

Before the relegation, TSV remembers a direct duel in 2015, but GSC is still confident.

Gauting/Pentenried – Michael Möhwald could not have found better words.

To get in the mood for the relegation derby tonight at Gautinger SC (7 p.m., Leutstettener Straße), the captain and head of department at TSV Pentenried reminded his teammates of the glorious history of the club after the final training session.

“Many people still know the formation of the team that beat Gauting seven years ago by heart.

You now have a chance to be remembered for the next ten years.”

Möhwald was present at the legendary match on the last day of the 2014/15 B-Class season.

In front of 350 spectators, Pentenried won 5:3 against the second team of the GSC and rose directly to the A class as second in the table.

Apart from Möhwald, only Nico Krafft, Ridvan Cetin as well as Philipp and Tony Stemmer are left of this team.

Everyone wants to win the derby and secure promotion in the process.

But the fire burns so hot in the runner-up of the A-class 2 that the newcomers also want to write history.

Historically, the TSV is once again on the move to the district class.

"Everyone wants to win the derby and secure promotion at the same time," the captain clarifies.

This also applies to Gautingen, who after a completely messed-up season have the chance to knock over the buck today in the Lutz-Tietz-Arena and on Pentecost Sunday (3 p.m.) at Römerfeld in Pentenried.

"Everyone is convinced that things will end well," says Bernd Ziehnert.

The team is better than their place.

The GSC coach, who succeeded Uwe Lehner just three weeks ago, has introduced a few new automatisms in the team.

In the meantime, his kickers are busy training again, have cured all the ailments and are absolutely convinced that they can master the challenge.

"The team is better than their place," says Ziehnert.

The twelfth in the district class 1 have lost nothing in the relegation battle.

In any case, the team is in better shape than ever before in this darn season.

Sebastian Lebek and Julian Feser, who played seven years ago, are also fit.

But those responsible at the GSC are also prepared for the game, which is expected to attract at least 500 spectators.

The Red Cross and the police have been informed and appropriate checks are planned at the entrance.

"People should come to the game on foot if possible," says Robert Stolpa, referring to the difficult parking situation.

It's not just Gauting's head of department who expects the spectators to be aggressive on the pitch but not in the stands during the derby.

"We'll bring five of our own folders," announces Möhwald.

"Offensive words don't belong on the pitch."

That was sometimes different in the past, which is why the two clubs are trying to relax despite all the rivalry.

"They all went to school together, they know each other inside out," says Ziehnert.

By that he means not only the players, but also the fans.

On Thursday they will celebrate their first festival.

It's a public holiday that the Würmtal has been waiting for for a long time.
