Cavani, now without a club, scores a brace against Mexico

Despite a failed season at Manchester United where he will not play again, the ex-Parisian remains productive with the Uruguayan selection.

Even with a huge blur ahead of him for next season, Edinson Cavani, the ex-PSG striker, remains effective in front of goal.

Because, Uruguay outclassed Mexico (3-0) in a friendly preparation match for the 2022 World Cup, with in particular a double from Cavani, Thursday in Glendale, Arizona.

Matias Vecino opened the scoring (35th) before the 35-year-old "Matador" weighed him down at the start of the second half (46th, 54th).

At the World Cup, Celeste is in Group H with Portugal, Ghana and South Korea.

But Cavani does not see as far as the next World Cup for the moment: he is looking for a club for next season.

At the end of his contract with Manchester United where he only scored two goals last year, the Uruguayan had recently sent a rather elegant farewell message to Mancunian fans.

"I sincerely have nothing but words of gratitude to the fans and supporters of Manchester United," he said.

Honestly, they showed me a lot of respect from the first moment I arrived.

I think they greatly recognized all the hard work that I always tried to put in the best way possible, giving the best of myself for this team.

I am truly very grateful and will leave here with happy memories of that affection they showed me.

Cavani, who has not yet signed anywhere, is looking for a club in the Spanish La Liga.

If he scored again on Sunday with his selection against the United States, this could definitively convince the clubs interested in his arrival.
