Rafael Nadal did not want to miss the Champions League final of his heart club Real Madrid.

The tennis superstar walked to the stadium.

Update from June 3rd:

Rafael Nadal celebrated the victory of his favorite team Real Madrid last Sunday in the Champions League final.

If the clay court king defeats Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the French Open (live ticker at tz.de) on Friday, he could also advance to the final.

So the Mallorquin could give himself a present for his 36th birthday.

Especially if he is even in the final of the Champions League.

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal is an ardent fan of Real Madrid, who reached the premier class final on Saturday.

Apparently no distance is too far for the Spaniard for his heart club.

Nadal marched towards the stadium on foot, even though he had a tough match at the French Open the next day.

Chaos reigned ahead of the Champions League final at the Stade de France in Paris.

The city is bursting at the seams, the most important game of the year in club football and at the same time the French Open tennis tournament were probably too much for the French metropolis.

Liverpool fans with apparently fake tickets were stopped at the entrance, the kick-off was delayed by 36 minutes.

Grand Slam record winner Rafael Nadal benefited from the delay afterwards, because there was also a traffic jam on the motorway in Paris.

For sports cannon Nadal, however, no reason to be late.

The 35-year-old, known for his strong footwork on the tennis court, simply walked to the stadium.

"I had to get out of the car on the highway and walk the rest of the way," Nadal said.

"Otherwise I would have been late because the car that drove me only arrived at the parking lot (at the stadium) at 10:15 p.m.." On foot, however, it was easier than he thought.

"People from the organizers recognized me and helped me."

It was much too late, said the 25-year-old, and made it into the quarter-finals of the French Open quite confidently on Sunday.

In any case, the hardships were worth it for Nadal.

“The Manacor Bull” said it was a “great moment” for him to be present live in a Champions League final for the first time – especially because his favorite club, Real Madrid, beat Liverpool 1-0 won.

Of course, Nadal was no longer able to watch the victory celebration around midnight, the tennis professional was back on the court the next day at the French Open in Paris. Nadal fought a marathon match against the young Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and won after more than four hours in five sentences.

In the quarterfinals on Tuesday there will be a showdown against great rival Novak Djokovic.

Chaos at the CL final: tear gas fired at Liverpool fans

The Champions League final was overshadowed by chaotic scenes at the stadium.

The police used tear gas against Liverpool fans and arrested more than a hundred people, according to police sources.

More than 230 people had to be treated by rescue workers.

French authorities blamed "massive fraud with counterfeit tickets" for the escalation at the Stade de France.
