In the second semi-final of the French Open between the Croatian tennis pro Marin Čilić from Croatia and Casper Ruud from Norway, there was an incident in Paris on Friday evening: the score was 3: 6, 6: 4, 4: 1 and 15:15 from sight von Ruud, a climate activist ran onto the square and chained herself to the net.
The woman was wearing a T-shirt that read, "We have 1028 days left."
Čilić and Ruud were taken to the cabins for safety.
The activist was freed from the network a little later and led from the square.
The game could then be continued on the Philippe Chatrier court in the Stade Roland Garros.
Shortly after the incident, a 22-year-old named Alizée confessed to the action.
On the homepage of a civil resistance campaign, she wrote: "It's 2022 and it's time to face reality, because the world politicians are sending us to is a world where Roland Garros can no longer exist.« She described her action as a necessary step in view of the »climatic emergency«.
