After winning the VTB Championship with Zenit St Petersburg, the Yellows want to move quickly against the esteemed Spanish coach to start building the squad for next season

Maccabi Tel Aviv is gearing up in preparation for next season: The first move the Yellows will make is accelerating contacts with Xavi Pasqual.

As you may recall, a few months ago we announced that the Spanish coach is the preferred option for the club's management and that they are willing to pay him a high salary as he has become accustomed to in recent teams.

Pasquale won the historic VTE League championship yesterday (Sunday) along with Zenit St. Petersburg after defeating the strong CSKA Moscow in the final series. Now, after the end of the season, the Yellows hope to complete contacts with the 49-year-old coach.

Pasqual holds a high contract with the Russian team for next season as well, but estimates are that the fact that Zenit will not play in the Euroleague next season due to the war in Ukraine and that foreign players are not in a hurry to get there, will make him leave.

In such a case, Maccabi is one of the preferred candidates for the Spaniard, who has already had contacts with Maccabi members.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is willing to pay the coach a high salary, at least as Yannis Sapropoulos has received in recent seasons, and perhaps even more, and may also participate in the compensation that Zenit will demand.

The club understand that only a senior coach will be able to get them back on track after a tough season.
