Due to a power failure in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, the Nations League game between Austria and Denmark kicked off 90 minutes later than planned at 10:15 p.m.
In large parts of the 2nd district of Vienna, the lights went out shortly after 8 p.m., the power grid had to be restarted.
Around 1,500 households were affected, and nothing worked at times in the adjoining amusement park, the famous Vienna Prater.
The cause of the disruption was initially unknown.
"We have to see if we can get the emergency generator running, and we are dependent on the Vienna Networks," said Bernhard Neuhold, Managing Director of the association, to the "Kronenzeitung":
You have to be patient, "work is being done at full speed to get rid of the problem.
We're just passengers at the moment, we'll have to wait and see what happens," said Neuhold.
Although some spotlights still worked, "the full capacity is needed for the TV broadcast".
The players were busy with exercises on the lawn, the stadium audience whiled away the time with »La-Ola« via mobile phone light.
The game is currently still running.
