Preparations for the Paris Olympics in two years' time are up and running, but who should be hurt by this is the 2024 Tour de France final, which is expected to be copied from Paris for the first time in history, to avoid a clash with the Olympics.
The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported today (Thursday) that the veteran Grand Tour will also be five days early and open on July 21.
It is also written that one of the candidates to host the final segment will be Nice, the southern city on the French Riviera.
The French capital has hosted the final stage of all 108 Tour de France competitions since 1903, hosted by the Champs Elysees since 1975.
If that's not enough, according to plans, the first four stages of the 111th column will start in Italy, focusing mainly on Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont.
This will be the third year in a row that the start of the big column outside of France, when the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, is due to host the first phase this year and Bilbao in Spain will be honored next year.
