The ju-jutsu duo Julia Paszkiewicz and Johannes Tourbeslis won their first European title in Israel.

Next challenge: the World Games.

Freising

 – They continue to rush from success to success: After their gold triumph at the Paris Open, Julia Paszkiewicz from Freising and her sports partner Johannes Tourbeslis won the European title in the mixed duo class at the Ju-Jutsu European Championships in Nahariya, Israel.

Clear case: The World Games can come.

Paszkiewicz and Tourbeslis had to deal with seven other duo pairs from Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Romania and Spain.

In the preliminary round, the competition for a place in the final against the very strong duo from Montenegro was particularly exciting, because the Montenegrins were leading by 0.5 points after the B series.

In the C series, however, the two athletes from SV Niederroth showed their class and ultimately clinched victory with a one-point lead.

"It was close," said Julia's coach and father, Adam Paszkiewicz.

So far, no German duo has managed that

In the final competition, the two faced the Belgians Charis Gravensteyn and Ian Lodens.

Julia Paszkiewicz and Johannes Tourbeslis already fought for the lead in the A series, but it shrank to one point in the B series.

In the C series, both couples pulled out all the stops - but the German athletes were better: In the end, Julia and Johannes secured their first European championship title with a lead of 1.5 points.

This means that the two are the reigning world, European and German champions as well as Paris Open winners in the current competition season.

So far, no German duo has managed that.

First place in the worldwide World Games ranking list

Everyone involved was very happy about the title, the hard work had paid off.

For Julia Paszkiewicz and Johannes Tourbeslis, the European Championship was a very successful dress rehearsal for the World Games, which will take place in Birmingham (USA) in mid-July and for which they qualified thanks to their successes in the years 2019 to 2021.

The two are currently in first place in the global World Games ranking list in the Duo Mixed category.

According to club coach Adam Paszkiewicz, Julia and Johannes will pay particular attention to their expressiveness, mental training, but also relaxation and regeneration in the remaining weeks of training.
