District Oberliga, here we come: In recent years, coaches Stefan Karamatic and Harry Kronthaler (from right) together with Michael Kock (back, 5th from left) and Melli Schöffmann (standing, 9th from left) have formed a very strong team that is also in the new league is not afraid.

FCL chairman Sepp Kaiser (standing, left) already had a reward ready: the entire team will take the bus to the last game of the season in Neubeuern.

Already on the penultimate match day, the soccer players of FC Langengeisling made the promotion to the district upper league perfect.

This is the biggest success in the club's history.

Langengeisling

– How do you become champion in the district league?

The soccer players of FC Langengeisling have provided several answers to this this season.

And by that we don't mean the 12-1 win with which they made promotion to the district league perfect on the penultimate matchday.

Opponent TSV Aßling only had seven players.

The guests had asked for the game to be rescheduled, the Geislingen women refused.

"In the past few years, we have basically approved all transfers, for example in the first half of the season in Aßling," explains coach Stefan Karamatic.

Opponents, on the other hand, almost always turned down their own inquiries.

But that is only a side issue.

You had to insist on the game against Aßling on Saturday because of your own situation, "because we were missing important players on all possible days".

So Aßling came up with a mini-team, but they did an excellent job and even took the lead after a goalkeeper error (10').

Five minutes later the game was already turned.

Johanna Steinmaier scored from 20 meters to make it 1-1.

Shortly thereafter, she put the ball on the lower edge of the crossbar.

He jumped well behind the goal line, but the referee was not well positioned and would have allowed play to continue.

But TSV keeper Sandra Funkenhauser drew the referee's attention to the mistake.

An extremely fair gesture - as well as the overall behavior of the guests.

"We've already become champions and didn't want to spoil this moment for the girls from Geislingen.

It would be a shame if they had won the title by not appearing at the green table.”

The FCL then quickly made everything clear.

Claudia Neumair (17th), Julia John (20th), Steffi Karamatic (33rd) and Melanie Schöffmann (36th) made it 6-1 before the break.

Julia John (48th/68th), Jasmin Weißig (60th/84th), Sophia Auer (61st) and Melanie Schöffmann (64th) followed suit in the second round.

The Geislingen team had long since reduced their number to seven field players and also took the pressure off their game.

The league leaders saved themselves for the party after the game, which took place immediately after the final whistle and didn't end until the next day.

"Geisling is the coolest club in the world" was the rumor on the premises for a long time.

The stick shooters weren't stingy either and donated one or the other crate of beer.

And the guest from Aßling was not only the first to congratulate, but also enjoyed one or the other free drink and chatted with the FCL kickers.

And they can look forward to a great season, which will end next Sunday with a bus ride to the last game of the season at TSV Neubeuern.

With 54 points from 21 games, the FCL secured the title prematurely with one game to go.

There were some gala performances, but also very close matches.

In Otterfing, FCL was 1:2 down until the 90th minute before Michelle Refeld turned the game around with two goals in added time.

Or the 3:3 in Grafing.

The FCL had arrived with the last squad due to injury.

With three goals, Melli Schöffmann saved the one point that was so important to stay ahead of ESV Freimann.

And when the competitor weakened, the FCL was there, only clinched victories and delighted the ever-growing crowd of spectators with great football.

The father of success is head coach Stefan Karamatic, who worked tirelessly on and with the squad together with Harry Kronthaler and goalkeeping coach Tobias Hunn.

They integrated talents such as Antonia Obermaier, Marie Huber, Judith Beilschmidt and Lena Altmann from the B youth team trained by Michael Beilschmidt.

They made Melli Schöffmann the playing assistant coach who pulled the strings in midfield together with Steffi Karamatic and Claudia Neumair.

And they gave Julia John all the freedom on the offensive, which the scorer has repaid with 31 goals so far.

We could name many more names here.

Lena Scheibl, for example, who has been with the first FCL girls' team since it was founded in 2004.

Or Moni Bichlmaier, the defense chief who doesn't have losing duels in her DNA.

"Enough of that," says the coach.

Ultimately, all 22 players made their contribution, “and of course the players in the second team, who always helped out when there was a shortage of personnel”.

And that was it again and again because the squad was plagued by injuries and corona.

Karamatic sees his young team - almost all of them come from their own youth - prepared for the district league, even if the career end of Melli Schöffmann, who is leaving for health reasons, hurts him.

It is also important to find replacements for striker Johanna Steinmaier and defensive player Maike Schmidtner.

Karamatic is thinking of players from the FCL's own second team, "and the district league should also be interesting for players from other clubs," he says.
