Yahav Shamir, the goalkeeper of the Israeli national team, today (Tuesday) officially signed for the German German Bundesliga.
Shamir is making the move and advancing to the German league, having led Winterthur a year ago to win the Swiss championship and even the local Supercup.
Shamir (23) signed for two years at the German club, at the end of the playoff final series in Switzerland where his team lost the championship title.
"I am the happiest, I fulfilled a dream to reach the best league in the world. After two years in Switzerland and winning titles, it felt like the right time to take the next step in my career. I have heard a lot about Minden, and I look forward to success with the club." Shamir, who also closes the circle as someone who experienced handball in Germany as part of the youth team project.
Next season, at least two players from the Israeli national team will play in the senior Bundesliga in Germany, with Yonatan Dayan wearing the mother's uniform that qualified for the first division last week.
In addition to Shamir and Dayan - another Israeli player is expected to sign soon with a team from the second Bundesliga in Germany.
