Miroslav Klose gets his first chance as head coach of a professional team.

The 2014 soccer world champion will be the new coach of the Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach.

The club from Voarlberg announced this on Friday, and immediately afterwards the club's website briefly collapsed under the onslaught of fans.

According to the club's announcement, long-time Bayern striker Klose will sign his contract on Sunday and be officially presented on Monday.

Most recently, the 44-year-old was assistant coach at Bayern Munich.

In Altach he succeeds the former Bundesliga professional Ludovic Magnin.

"I'm really looking forward to my new job here," said Klose.

“Right from the start it was just this positive feeling that I had to have, that I was in the right place here.” The first discussions with those responsible were “so open” that “it was clear to me that I wanted to do this.

Now I can hardly wait to get to know the team, the people at the club and of course the fans.”
