SERIES (2/6). The project was very attractive. The compactness of the sites, with very little to build, should therefore be a strong marker of the Games

Our series Paris 2024, fears about the Games

In two years, on July 26, 2024, the French capital will welcome the whole world for the Olympic and then Paralympic Games.

And the closer the deadline gets, the more difficulties accumulate for the organizing committee (Cojo).

Through a series of six episodes mixing political, sports or federal actors, Le Parisien details all the files that haunt the nights of the leaders of the Cojo and worry the sports authorities.

  • The budget of all dangers

  • The incredible bazaar of Olympic venues

  • The organization of competitions impacted (to be published on Saturday July 9)

  • The mirage of the “All of France Games” (Sunday July 10)

  • French sport in walking disorder (Monday July 11)

  • The dangerous fantasy of 80 medals (Tuesday July 12)

  • Stuck under the A86, on the border between Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, the old Total site, fenced off by huge sheets, has nothing more to expect from the Olympic Games.

This is where the unsuccessful candidates for the organization of the 2012 Olympics had imagined building a swimming pool worthy of the name, capable of hosting major international events.

There too, at the start of the candidacy phase for the 2024 Olympics, the GIP (public interest group) at the time was planning to set up its future aquatic center.

The promises of depollution and transformation will not have held for long.
