Katharina Vogl from Hohenpeißenberg won two medals at the Bavarian Athletics Championships.

Andreas Kölbl caused a spectacle in the hurdles.

Erding – The Sepp Brenninger Stadium was once again a good place for Katharina Vogl.

The Hohenpeissenberger, who has been competing for LG Augsburg for some time, had won her first Bavarian individual title in the long jump there in 2020 - still in the jersey of TSV Peißenberg.

This year she won the silver medal in the women's long jump at the Free State Championships.

She landed twice at 5.61 meters, which was Vogl's best performance of the season.

Gold went to Lavinja Jürgens (LG Stadtwerke München), who flew 5.68 meters in the third attempt.

Jürgens had also won in the high jump (1.79).

Silver in the long jump, bronze in the relay

Katharina Vogl also won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

The 48.76 seconds meant an LG record.

The distance to the second-placed LG Festina Rupertiwinkel was 35 hundredths.

In the 100 meter sprint, Vogl also delivered a convincing performance.

The 23-year-old made it to the final and finished sixth with a time of 12.67 seconds.

Gold went to the favorite Marina Scherzl (LG Stadtwerke München), who crossed the finish line after 11.76 seconds.

Scherzl also won over 200 meters (23.44).

Another athlete from the Weilheim-Schongau district caused drama: "I don't know why I fell.

All of a sudden I was on the ground.” Half an hour after the incident, the helplessness was still visible on Andreas Kölbl's face.

With a lead of more than 30 meters, the TSV Penzberg athlete got stuck with his rear foot at the eighth of ten hurdles in the 400-meter hurdles race.

"My first thought was that I had to get up again immediately." But when the 27-year-old wanted to get up, a severe pain shot through his left shoulder.

"I reflexively pulled my arm away, causing me to fall again."

As a result, Fabian Schäffler (LG Stadtwerke München) and Julian Meyer (TuS Geretsried) passed Sindelsdorfer, who was lying on the ground, as did Carlos Schirmer (SV Putzbrunn).

But Kölbl didn't give up: he took big strides in pursuit and actually won the bronze medal in 58.66 seconds.

Two hours later, the TSV sprinter faced the competition over 110 meter hurdles despite severe pain in his right knee and left shoulder.

He fought an exciting duel with André Zahl (TS Herzogenaurach), with whom he almost flew over the 1.06 meter high hurdles in step.

After the last, the tenth hurdle, Kölbl had worked out a wafer-thin lead - he defended the title he had won the previous year with a lead of one hundredth.

The clock stopped at 15.32 seconds for Kölbl.

The sprinter completed a third discipline in Erding: he finished fourth in the 400-meter sprint (50.00), although he was not at all satisfied with his time.

Gold went to Vincente Graiani (LG Stadtwerke München), who improved to 46.96 seconds.

Corinna Braun wins her first Bavarian individual title

Corinna Braun was happy about her first Bavarian individual title.

The 18-year-old TSV athlete from Benediktbeuern won the U20 age group over the 800 meters in 2:20.19 minutes.

She was four seconds ahead of second-placed Franka Nebl (TSV Plattling).

"I'm not entirely satisfied with the time, but of course I'm happy about the gold medal," said Braun.

On the second day of the championship, she secured the bronze medal in the 400 meter hurdles.

Braun set a personal best of 66.86 seconds.

In the second hurdle race of her career, she was only beaten by Elisa Eich (TV DJK Hammelburg/62.13) and Janne Popp (LAC Quelle Fürth/63.30).

“Unfortunately Corinna had big problems with the rhythm between the hurdles.

Despite that, she pulled through the race well,” said trainer Markus Brennauer.

Julian Herter was happy about silver: The 18-year-old high school graduate finished the 400-meter race of the U20s after 51.22 seconds.

In an exciting race, Herter started very offensively, so that he was level with the later winner Franz-Xaver Brunner (LG Aschaffenburg/51.03) and the later third Luca Haller (LG Stadtwerke Munich/51.67) up to the 200-meter mark was.

Light and shadow for TSV sprinter Johnson

With fourth place in the men's 200 meters and a time of 21.96 seconds, Raffieu Deen Johnson ended an otherwise messed-up championship weekend on a conciliatory note.

On the first day, the 22-year-old from Penzberg was disqualified in the 100-meter run due to a false start.

After winning the preliminary heat (10.97), he wanted to qualify for the final, but his nerves played tricks on him.

"Raffieu was very nervous and wanted to do his best," said trainer Conny Lechner-Brennauer.

On the second day he was demotivated after the pre-run over the 200 meters (22.26).

"I just didn't have a good feeling running," said Johnson, explaining his mood.

However, this changed in the course of the final.

"I had fun running again in the final," said a visibly satisfied Johnson,

Another fourth place, namely over the 1500 meters, was given to TSV Penzberg by Nick Jäger (3:54.87 minutes).

The 22-year-old spontaneously decided to start.

The evening before he ran a personal best 5000 meter time (14:16.19) in Heusden (Netherlands).

"I wanted to take advantage of my good form right away," said Jäger.

In an exciting final, it was his club mates Lucas Herbeck and Luk Jäger who initially set the pace.

"I had agreed with Luk that he should run the first 500 meters and that I would then take the lead," said Herbeck.

That's why Herbeck was still leading the field at the beginning of the last lap when the later winner Benedikt Brem (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg/3:52.18) passed.

Herbeck was finally fifth in 3:58.55 minutes.

Nick Jäger just missed out on a medal

Nick Jäger was beaten by nine hundredths in the fight for bronze by Keyan Hatami (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg).

Luk Jäger, who was one of the youngest runners in the field, finished 17th with a time of 4:12.57 minutes.

The day before, Herbeck and Luk Jäger fought an exciting duel over 800 meters, with Jäger (1:58.05) winning the duel for seventh place with a lead of 0.10 seconds.

Michaela Kölbl left Erding with a fifth place.

However, she was not completely satisfied with her time of 67.89 seconds over the 400 meter hurdles.

Joris Ressing set his best time over 800 meters with 2:07.41 minutes, which gave him eleventh place in the U18s.
