Football clubs are accustomed to their pre-season preparations not being perfect when players switch teams in the transfer market, but Halifax Town have had to deal with an unusual departure - with leading striker Jamie Allen leaving the preparations to join the reality show - "The Unlove".
Allen, who recently signed a contract extension with the semi-professional club was announced on Wednesday as one of four new stars to leave for Spain and take part in the filming.
For those who do not know, "Island of Love" is a reality show in which a group of singles are locked up in a secluded, luxurious resort and networked with cameras in Mallorca.
They have to split into pairs according to their personal choice at the beginning of the season, and from time to time they are given the option to replace their mates.
The audience at home votes for their favorite pairs, and those who receive the lowest number of votes are candidates for relegation and may leave the game.

Halifax Town of course did not accept the news with equanimity and responded: "Jamie decided to join the non-love show and made it clear that this is a great opportunity for him. The matter will be investigated with the return of the actor."
Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of â€ïž Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him.
The matter will be reviewed on his return.
