After six weeks: VfB professional Karazor released on bail from custody in Ibiza

Bundesliga professional Atakan Karazor was arrested in Ibiza six weeks ago after a woman accused him of rape.

He has now been released on bail.

Stuttgart – At the beginning of June, an incident overshadowed German football.

Atakan Karazor from Bundesliga soccer club VfB Stuttgart was arrested on suspicion of rape while on vacation in Ibiza and has been in custody ever since.

As a spokesman for the Stuttgart sports information service (SID) confirmed, the 25-year-old has now been released from custody.

According to the SID, Karazor is free again on bail.

As

reports, the sum paid is 50,000 euros.

"This also corresponds to our knowledge," commented VfB spokesman Tobias Herwerth on Thursday.

So far, however, there has been no personal contact between VfB and the professional.

As soon as an exchange between club and player is possible, they will "agree on how to proceed," Herwerth said.

What happened?

During the Ibiza vacation, Karazor was partying with his friend Jaskaran TD, who is also 25, on the night of June 8th to 9th at the “Pacha” discotheque.

There they met two women who accompanied them to their holiday villa.

It is said that there was sexual intercourse between Karazor and one of the two young women.

The 18-year-old alleged victim subsequently reported a rape to the Guardia Civil police unit.

Kazaror insists on consensual sex.

After the second woman present at the incident could not remember acts of violence during a comparison, the Essen native is now being investigated for sexual coercion.

In addition, both Karazor and his friend of the same age, Jaskaran TD, who is also under investigation, have been banned from communicating with or approaching the alleged victim.

It is still unclear what consequences Karazor can expect after his return home.

The defensive midfielder has been under contract with VfB Stuttgart since 2019 and played 69 competitive games for the Swabians, 25 of them in the past season.

Karazor's contract was extended to 2026 in May.
