Tiktekno, summary of the events of July 22 (Sport 1)

An exciting moment of sportsmanship was recorded yesterday (Thursday) in the Tour de France, when leader Jonas Wingur slowed down during the race in order to wait for his biggest rival, Thaddeus Pougacher, so that he could catch him following a fall.

The event took place in the 18th section of the prestigious race, where Pogacher knew he had to do everything in order to erase the 2:18 minute gap that the Danish conductor had opened on him.

It was the last day in the Pyrenees, and for a moment Pogchar's attack seemed to be working, as Vingor slipped slightly, but somehow managed to avoid a painful fall when he picked up a leg and avoided a crash.

But the drama continued.

The Dane was able to catch up with his opponent and took the lead, Pogacher was a little stressed, took a wrong turn, lost control of the bike and fell.

Vingor could have accelerated, escaped and opened a gap, but chose to slow down and let Pogachar catch up to him, looking back and checking what his opponent was up to.

The Slovenian, the reigning champion, knew how to appreciate his opponent's decision, and gave him a hand in gratitude.

The Eurosport broadcasters obviously went out of their way during the broadcast.

"Wow, what a moment," exclaimed broadcaster Rob Hatch, "it's just amazing."

Wingor was later seen talking to the team managers in their car, and it was believed that they actually told him to attack.

But the Dane, who last year was Pogacher's runner-up and currently looks to be on the safe way to victory, said: "I can never continue to run away at a moment like this, when Taddi crashes. I don't think it's nice. So yes, I decided to wait for him, and I always will. It It's unsportsmanlike not to wait."

Afterwards, in the "Eurosport" studio, the cycling experts and commentators analyzed the event, saying: "This is the sign of a true champion. A person who waits for his opponent, and makes it clear to him: 'If I beat you, I want to do it fairly.'" When Pogchar told him Thank you, it was just a beautiful sporting moment."
