Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in Damascus will host for the first time the West Asian Basketball Championship for men under eighteen years with the participation of the teams of Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, which will start the day after tomorrow and continue until the thirtieth of this month.
Our team will start its journey in the championship next Monday by meeting its Iraqi counterpart at seven o’clock in the evening, preceded by the meeting of the Lebanese team with the Palestine team at five in the evening, and our team will meet on Tuesday with its Lebanese counterpart at five, and the Palestinian team will face its Iraqi counterpart at seven of the same day, and our team will conclude the first round The Palestinian team will meet on Wednesday at seven, and the Lebanese team will meet the Iraqi team at five.
The first-placed player plays the fourth-placed player, while the second-placed player plays the third-placed player on the 29th of this month. The winners play the final on the 30th, and the losers play for the third and fourth places.
In a statement to SANA, the head of the Game Federation, Tarif Qutrash, said, "This tournament is being held for the first time in Syria, and we, as a federation, have strived to return to hosting tournaments on our land, which will reflect positively on our national teams, especially in age groups," pointing out that Al-Fayhaa Hall will be with a new date. The West Asian Women's Under-18 Championship on the ninth of next month.
The list of players invited to participate in the tournament included Louay Al-Azzawi, Anas Al-Hajji, Mahmoud Thalaj, Ghassan Bahloul, Gad Desouki, Michel Issa, Ahmed Sarmini, Mohamed Haj Ibrahim, Omar Miknas, Abdel-Gawad Haskal, Majed Harami, George Constantine, Sergio Kashichian, Abdelaziz Dabdoub, Mahmoud Khantoumi, Abdel-Rahman Musa and Malak Hakimi Drissi. Mazen Al-Nahar, Abdullah Deeb, Rashad Qamar Al-Din, Yazan Abboud, Zain Mosra’ and Muhammad Eid.
The technical and administrative staff consists of Jack Pashayani, general supervisor, Mosbah Fakhoury, general administrator, Walid El-Sobky, coach, Nicholas Fernandez, coach, Johnny Leos, Youssef Ezgen, assistant coaches, and Anas Shaaban, a physiotherapist.
