France-Netherlands 1-0
France
: Périsset (102nd sp)
The France team has finally blown up the glass ceiling.
After failing in the quarterfinals in the last five major competitions, Les Bleues qualified for the semi-finals of a tournament for the first time since the 2012 Olympics. a rather tense meeting against the Netherlands (1-0).
Tense because the Deacon players had fun scaring each other by missing countless chances.
But they ended up gaining the upper hand in overtime on a penalty obtained by Diani and converted by Périsset (1-0, 102nd).
The big French failures
Previously, it was a festival of failures.
Beyond the extremely disappointing level of play, with numerous ball losses and multiple misunderstandings, the French women took a long time to concretize their broad domination against the Dutch very messy but solid in defense.
Beyond van der Gragt's saves on her line (37th, 41st, 63rd), goalkeeper Van Domselaar multiplied the decisive parades.
But there were also big missed opportunities, like that of Geyoro, alone in front of goal and who did not fit his whim.
But relentless, the Blues ended up being rewarded for their efforts.
At the end of the night, they finally hold this semi-final.
Next Wednesday, against Germany, it will be a different story.
