Just weeks after his team won another NBA championship, Golden State Warriors owner Joe LaCub has gone head-to-head with league management, and so far he appears to be losing.
Lacob was interviewed this weekend on the podcast of the pair of players Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, who retired two years ago, and talked, among other things, about the luxury tax in the NBA.
He defined it as "unfair", and claimed that "Golden State should not be punished for building the team".
Unfortunately for Lacob, the NBA prohibits owners from talking about or criticizing the luxury tax, certainly not in public, and the result is one of the heaviest fines in NBA history.

Mercilessly, the league management announced a fine of half a million dollars, which it imposed without delay on the owner with the big mouth, and even though he is a billionaire, he has difficulty accepting the punishment.
"It's just not fair," said Lacob, who received an apology from one of the interviewers, Iguodala, who tweeted: "We put it up just to promote the podcast, and it cost Joe Lacob $500,000. I'm sorry Joe."
