The World Championships in Athletics, held in Oregon in the United States, enters its final stretch, when tonight (between Saturday and Sunday) we witnessed a big surprise in the 4x100 meter relay race.
For the men, it was Canada, in a quartet that included Maron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brandon Rodney and Andre de Grasse, and crossed the finish line first after 37.48 seconds.
The Canadians were ahead of the local team, to the disappointment of the crowd who finished second with 37.55 seconds.
Great Britain topped the podium with 37.83 seconds.
In the women's parallel run, the local crowd actually had a reason to celebrate, when the United States with Melissa Jefferson, Abby Steiner, Jenna Pardini and Twinsha Terry won the gold, after reaching 41.14 seconds and setting the year's result in the world.
