FC Carl Zeiss Jena wants to investigate reports of incidents after the cup game against VfL Wolfsburg.

This was announced by a spokesman.

After the Bundesliga team's happy 1-0 victory in Jena in the first round of the DFB Cup, reports from the German Press Agency and the newspaper "Bild" led to scuffles, and the "kicker" also reported on it.

According to "Bild", there was a scuffle and discussions between the Wolfsburg players Jakub Kaminski, Kevin Paredes and substitute keeper Pavao Pervan and some Jena fans.

The "kicker" reported that there were also shoves before the players were able to retreat to a "secured area" shortly afterwards.

Accordingly, some Jena fans are said to have tried to de-escalate.

Wolfsburg won the game with a goal in added time

Jena announced that it would evaluate the events together with the stadium operator, the police and the security services at the beginning of the coming week "in order to identify the perpetrators and to take further steps by filing criminal charges and issuing house bans".

Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovač expressed his surprise at the press conference after the game on Saturday evening.

"I'm hearing that for the first time, I can't say anything because I haven't seen it personally," said Kovač, adding: "If it had been like that, then of course it's not what we as football fans, football fans or football fanatics do want to see.

And those who are responsible for this will certainly be sanctioned accordingly.«

The Ernst Abbe sports field in Jena resembled a large construction site due to the current conversion.

Therefore, only two of the planned four grandstands were usable.

The spectator capacity was reduced to 6100 spectators for the first round match in the DFB Cup.

Around 600 fans came from Wolfsburg.

VfL Wolfsburg narrowly avoided embarrassment when their new coach Niko Kovač made his competitive debut.

In a hard-fought game at the regional league, Lower Saxony won 1-0 (0-0) in the first round of the DFB Cup.

Omar Marmoush (90 + 2) decided the game late in favor of the wolves, Jena moved for long stretches at eye level.

In the league, things will get serious for VfL for the first time next Saturday in front of their home crowd in a northern duel with newly promoted Werder Bremen.
