Unvaccinated, Novak Djokovic could be absent at the next US Open (August 29 - September 11) at Flushing Meadows. Registered on the official list of the tournament, the Serb still hopes to participate.

In a long message posted on his Instagram account, Novak Djokovic clarified that he was actively preparing for the US Open, which will take place from August 29 to September 11, in the legendary municipal park of Flushing Meadows in New York.

Unvaccinated, the Serb still does not know officially if he will be authorized by the American government to go to the United States.

“I am preparing as if I was going to be authorized to compete, while waiting to know if it will be possible for me to go to the United States.

Fingers crossed

,” he captioned his workout video.

Fans of the former world number 1 have even created an online petition in support of Novak Djokovic hoping to see the Belgrade native in New York:

“I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how grateful I am to see so many messages of support and love from around the world these days.

I didn't expect it, it's breathtaking

, "said the 35-year-old player who is aiming for a 22nd major.

As a reminder, the Djokovic clan arrested President Joe Biden at the start of the week so that he could intervene directly in the Serb's file.

In the meantime, Novak is training hard with the goal of equaling Rafael Nadal's Grand Slam tally.
