Big million blessing: FC Bayern has so much money in the Champions League

UEFA wants to pay out an astronomical sum.
FC Bayern is in for a real windfall.
Munich – “Football only writes stories like this,” said Hasan Salihamidzic on Thursday after the group draw for the upcoming Champions League season.
He must have spoken from the heart of many FC Bayern fans.
When Yaya Toure drew the ball from FC Barcelona on Thursday evening in Istanbul and ex-Munich player Hamit Altintop shortly afterwards held up the note with Group C – Bayern's group – many spectators' hearts certainly jumped a little.

In total, UEFA will pay out the astronomical sum of two billion euros to the 32 teams that have qualified for the group stage.

Champions League makes the club coffers ring: UEFA wants to pay out two billion euros
Even before the draw, it was clear that simply entering the competition would bring the euro signs to club owners' eyes.
Only for the preliminary round did UEFA fill the money pot with 500.5 million euros.
Qualifying for the competition alone brings in 15.64 million euros for each starting team.
Each preliminary round victory brings 2.8 million euros.
Every draw from the group phase flushes 930,000 euros into the club's treasury.
But that's not all.
Of course, getting ahead in the knockout duels also brings a lot of money.
And of course FC Bayern would like to go far again and play among the top clubs.
Overall, according to the

, FC Bayern could bring in 84.27 million euros in bonus payments alone in a perfect group phase with six wins and a march through plus a subsequent victory in the final – a handsome sum.

After deducting the qualifying money and the victories in the preliminary round, 51.83 million euros fell on the knockout games and the payouts from the market pool alone.
The latter includes an estimated 300.3 million euros.
And in contrast to the other German CL participants, FC Bayern benefits particularly here.
Because half of the TV income is distributed according to the league ranking.
As champions, FC Bayern is entitled to 40 percent, and BVB as runners-up is entitled to 30 percent.
Then descending Leverkusen with 20 and Leipzig with ten percent.
Since Eintracht Frankfurt did not qualify via the league, but via the Europa League, the Hessians go away empty-handed here.
The second half of the market pool then depends on the number of games played.
But no matter how successful FC Bayern should ultimately be: the German record champions have already secured another almost 35 million euros from the Champions League before the first game has even kicked off.
And this is also a rule from which top-class permanent guests like FC Bayern benefit more than others.
The teams will participate in the distribution of a further pool of 600.6 million euros via a coefficient, depending on their success.
This bonus depends on the results of the European Cup seasons of the last ten years.

In the best case: FC Bayern can expect up to 120 million euros from the Champions League
Means: If FC Bayern marches through the Champions League without defeat and grabs the handle pot, there are already 84.24 million euros.
The success bonus adds another 35.25 million euros anyway.
In the best case scenario, it makes a good 120 million euros.
A sum that would certainly have made Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn laugh in the Bayern box.
By the way, Kahn already had a good laugh after the draw on Thursday.
