From shock to review, Spain closed this Saturday the preparation phase for the Eurobasket that begins next week with a resounding victory over the Netherlands (64-86).

In the qualifying match for the 2023 World Cup, Scariolo's men resolved their final procedure against a team that sowed panic at the start, but whose threat ended up being a bluff.

In a horrible start to the match, Spain chained a negative run of 9-2, which was extended to 18-4 in the blink of an eye.

But then the great leader of the team appeared, Rudy Fernández, who without Sergio Llull in the team would carry more responsibilities on his veteran shoulders.

The captain of the national team, with three consecutive triples, put his team back in the game (20-15) and showed that the first few minutes had been a cake that did not fit the team's performance.

The Dutch, who had overwhelmed in the early stages of the match, deflated like a balloon as Spain approached in the second quarter.

Until Scariolo's men definitively took control of the match, taking the lead thanks to a basket by Guerra (28-30).

Ahead against a hit opponent, the Spaniards sped up to widen the lead, scoring a 7-0 run along the way, to leave the score at 32-40 at halftime.

Lorenzo Brown, shy during the first half, came out in the second act with the intention of blowing up the game as soon as possible.

With a triple and a mate he put the +13 for Spain (32-45), which expanded with a 2 + 1 to +17 (36-53).

The point guard tried to connect Garuba to the match, aggressive in his actions but very imprecise.

In a match in which Scariolo reserved Willy Hernangómez (only 12 minutes), it was essential to plug other players into the attack.

Until now, the eldest of the Hernangómez family had been the team's main offensive weapon in this preparation phase, and Scariolo was pleased to find offensive regularity without relying so much on him.

Spain found the way to destroy their rival from the triple, with Brizuela shining once again in his minutes on the floor.

The success in the perimeter shot (14 of 23) put an end to the tenuous local resistance, which in the last quarter tried unsuccessfully to minimize the beating.

Spain concludes this month of preparation with a victory that is as balmy as it is necessary before traveling to Tbilisi, where everything will be much more complicated.
