World Mountain Bike Championships: Loïc Bruni crowned and French hat-trick in downhill

Frenchman Loïc Bruni was crowned downhill mountain bike world champion for the 5th time on Saturday in Les Gets (Haute-Savoie), where the French team


He is definitely the best mountain bike downhiller in the world, perhaps even in history.

The Niçois Loïc Bruni won this August 27, the title of downhill world champion in Les Gets in Haute-Savoie.

This is his 5th world title after those of 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Frenchman is thus the second most successful driver of all time behind his compatriot Nicolas Vouilloz in a discipline that is not Olympic.

Loïc Bruni won by finishing his descent in 3′20′'478.

After a big scare in the 2nd corner, the 28-year-old from Nice made the perfect race, catching up on the second intermediate passage, to finish ahead of Amaury Pierron (3′23′'059), second and Loris Vergier who got on the third step in 3′23′'864.
