Mario Götze has scored a goal in the Bundesliga for the first time since the end of 2019. Nevertheless, it initially looked like a Frankfurt defeat in Bremen – before striker Randal Kolo Muani in particular turned up the heat.

Eintracht Frankfurt won an entertaining football game in Bremen 4:3 (3:2) and celebrated their first win of the current Bundesliga season.

Mario Götze gave the Europa League winner an early lead (2nd minute) before Werder briefly turned the game around through Anthony Jung (14th) and Leonardo Bittencourt (17th).

But then coach Oliver Glasner's team began an attack that Randal Kolo Muani (32'), Jesper Lindstrøm (39') and Djibril Sow (48') turned into an away win.

Niclas Füllkrug only managed to score the first goal with a penalty kick (90+2).

Most recently, Werder not only shone with late goals, as in the 3-2 win in Dortmund, but also with great activity at the beginning of the game.

This time, however, Bremen were caught off guard: Kolo Muani first showed his dribbling skills against a poorly organized defence, then his eye for Götze, who ran with him in the backcourt.

From about 16 meters, the ex-national player scored his first Bundesliga goal since the end of 2019 (then still for BVB) to take the lead (2nd).

With a bit of luck, Werder found their way back into the game.

Following a corner kick, Bittencourt played an initially harmless ball into the penalty area, but Evan Ndicka produced a ricochet that fell at Jung's feet.

The Bremen left-back equalized with a dry finish (14').

Bittencourt scores and has to go

Then Bittencourt himself should be in focus, and twice.

First, because the midfielder, who is only 1.71 meters tall, used a free kick from Marvin Ducksch to score his second header goal of the current season.

Then Bittencourt's game came to an early end: the midfielder was injured in a duel and Romano Schmid took his place in Werder's central midfield.

Werder had a lot to do with Frankfurt's offensive, especially with Kolo Muani: The attacker, signed from Nantes on a free transfer in the summer, was offside before an alleged equalizer by Daichi Kamada (19'), after which he showed his class.

After a bad pass from Werder captain Marco Friedl, Frankfurt switched quickly, Kolo Muani successfully dribbled against three Werder defenders and overcame Jiri Pavlenka to equalize (32').

Frankfurt was now the better team, mainly because Werder let themselves be taken by surprise too often after losing the ball.

Eintracht made it 3-2 in a similar way, this time Lindstrøm was unstoppable on the break and chipped the ball over Pavlenka into the goal (39').

After the break, the Frankfurt vortex continued.

Kolo Muani brought the ball into the middle to Kamada, who defended himself with his back to goal and placed it on Sow who had moved up.

The Swiss completed the excellently played attack with the first contact for the fourth Frankfurt goal (48th).

Another final offensive, but no Burke hit

Werder still had problems with the Frankfurt pressing, but still set offensive accents in isolated cases.

Jens Stage caused danger with a header (56'), but aroused the displeasure of his colleague Niclas Füllkrug, who was even better placed.

In the final phase, Ole Werner put his Bremen team on the offensive by making substitutions, which resulted in chances from Lee Buchanan (71') and Mitchell Weiser (75').

Oliver Burke, who scored in added time against both Dortmund and Stuttgart, came on in the 77th minute.

This time the Scot didn't have a big scene anymore, but Werder still managed to catch up: Ndicka had hit Ducksch on the foot in the penalty area, but Fulkrug's converted penalty remained a cosmetic result (90 + 2).
