Werder Bremen narrowly lost the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

In a rousing game, the green-whites of the SGE lost 3:4 (2:3).

The game report of the DeichStube.

Bremen – SV Werder Bremen

has a lot to offer

for the neutral fan these days.

If the ball rolls in the Bundesliga with Bremen participating, then the promoted team stands for the best entertainment.

That was also the case on Sunday in the home game against

Eintracht Frankfurt

, but this time the supporters of the Green-Whites only had limited fun with what was shown.

Because Werder put in a miserable performance in defense and lost to the Hessians 3: 4 (2: 3).

After last week's lavish party, coach Ole Werner relied on exactly the same starting XI as in Dortmund.

And Clemens Fritz, head of professional football at

Werder Bremen

, knew what he now wanted to see from the team.

"Keep your confidence.

Maintain courage,” he demanded before the kick-off against

Eintracht Frankfurt

on the DAZN microphone.

"The boys know exactly what they have to bring to the pitch to be successful."

However, knowledge alone was not enough.

Less than two minutes were played when Milos Veljkovic let himself be duped.

After Mitchell Weiser lost the ball,

Eintracht Frankfurt

's Randal Kolo Muani was on the outside goal line - and was not attacked at all.

Where Veljkovic could have intervened energetically, he let the Eintracht professional do it, which he used for a pass to the backcourt.

There, nobody at Werder Bremen

felt

responsible for Mario Götze, who overcame Jiri Pavlenka with a long-range shot – 0:1 (2nd).

In the past three games, the Werner team had always started well, this time they struggled to gain access to the opponent.

And yet the quick equalizer succeeded.

Following a corner,

Eintracht Frankfurt

did not get the ball cleared, which brought Anthony Jung into play: the left winger scored with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area (14').

And

Werder Bremen

stayed on the trigger.

Marvin Ducksch quickly took a free kick from the half field and crossed right to Leonardo Bittencourt.

As in Wolfsburg, the midfielder was there with his head – the game was turned around – 2:1 (17th).

Werder Bremen versus Eintracht Frankfurt: Bremen turn the game around in three minutes thanks to Anthony Jung and Leonardo Bittencourt

Just two minutes later the ball was back in the net, this time in Pavlenka's goal again.

However, when Daichi Kamada scored, Kolo Muani was slightly offside, which the video assistant also confirmed with some delay.

There was a lot going on in the Wohninvest Weserstadion and everyone stayed cheerful.

Because Christian Groß allowed himself an outrageous loss of the ball, Eintracht Frankfurt

's Jesper Lindström suddenly appeared

free in front of Pavlenka.

But the

SV Werder Bremen

keeper made a save in dire straits after a bit of wobbling in the early stages (27').

Bittencourt had to leave the field injured after half an hour, Romano Schmid replaced him.

However, it was his compatriot Marco Friedl who was the focus of attention next.

Werder Bremen

's captain allowed himself a catastrophic bad pass, Kamada then sent Kolo Muani steeply - and was allowed to net to make it 2-2 because Veljkovic and Friedl, who had hurried back, could no longer prevent the

Eintracht Frankfurt

attacker from shooting (32nd).

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt: Marco Friedl with a bad pass before 2: 2 – and bad positional play at 2: 3

There was no time to take a breather afterwards either.

After a shot by Weiser, Niclas Füllkrug wanted to head in the rebound, but was disturbed with a penalty.

There was still no whistle (38th).

In return,

Werder Bremen

defended against

Eintracht Frankfurt

embarrassing again, Friedl didn't look good again.

In the end, Lindström lobbed the ball past Pavlenka into the box (39').

The spectators had experienced five goals and a turbulent first half up to the half-time whistle – but the much-cited Werder madness was mainly due to the horrendous chain of mistakes made by the protagonists and did not really give cause for joy.

"We just have to defend it better," criticized Frank Baumann.

"We've seen a lot of fouls from us, that's usually a sign that you're always a step too late in a duel."

The problem: Even after the change of sides,

Werder Bremen

remained frighteningly passive in the backward movement.

Kolo Muani was once again allowed to walk towards the goal unchallenged, then he put it on Djibril Sow, who beautifully flicked the fourth goal for

Eintracht Frankfurt

scored (48th).

This next setback had a noticeable effect, the Bremen team were now really unsettled.

After a harmless back pass from Friedl, Pavlenka waited so long to free himself that Kolo Muani almost got his foot between them (54').

Then Groß allowed himself to be shown to Kamada at the goal line, which ultimately had no consequences (59').

With a triple change, Ole Werner hoped for new momentum and more stability, Lee Buchanan, Ilia Gruev and Niklas Schmidt came into play.

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt: Niclas Füllkrug's goal comes too late

The exchange almost paid for itself quickly.

When Bremen attacked, Schmidt skilfully passed the ball on with his heel, but Buchanan's shot from a promising position flew over the target (71').

Then came Werder's previous noble joker Oliver Burke (77th).

Shortly before the end Ducksch was brought down by

Eintracht Frankfurt

's Evan Ndicka in the penalty area, the video assistant called and

Werder Bremen

actually got a penalty .

Füllkrug stepped up, converted safely and shortened to 3: 4 (90 + 2).

The basis for another thrilling final phase was laid.

Eintracht Frankfurt

's Tuta almost

conceded an own goal after a Burke cross (90+6), but in the end it wasn't enough for

Werder Bremen to draw.

"We had a far too high error rate, made it far too easy for the opponent and ran into an incredible number of switching moments," said Ole Werner annoyed.

"That meant that Frankfurt was clearly the better team up to 4:2 and deserved to win." That's how the big party turned out this time.

The Weser Stadium was simply not suitable for the Werder Annex that day as an amusement park.

But at least Bremen still show the will to correct the result.

81 min:

A scene that could hardly fit Werder's second half better.

The tender attack of Bremen is nipped in the bud.

64 min:

Change at Frankfurt.

60 min:

The last 30 minutes have begun, and Werder is slowly getting under pressure.

Kamada is sent down the flank, lets Pieper out on the edge of the area and pulls away.

However, his shot goes well over Pavlenka's box.

56 min:

Romano Schmid crosses into the Frankfurt penalty area, but Stage and Füllkrug hinder each other.

Ultimately, Stage gets his head on the ball, which he can only place out of bounds.

54 min:

What was that?!

Pavlenka almost waits too long before slapping the ball away and is only able to clear in the last second before Kolo Muani.

51 min:

Werder looks dismayed and has to collect himself first.

The start of the second half failed for the Green-Whites.

Instead of equalizing 3:3 themselves, coach Ole Werner's men are suddenly confronted with a two-goal deficit.

46 min:

Werder appears directly in half of Frankfurt, but is not compelling enough in its offensive urge.

46 min:

Referee Ittrich whistles for the second half!

6.20 p.m .:

And that was it with the first half in the Weser Stadium!

Referee Ittrich whistles for the break.

Werder must be accused of being too negligent in defense.

The Frankfurters, on the other hand, played off their speed and coldly exploited the defensive shortcomings of the green-whites.

45 min:

Referee Ittrich gives two extra minutes.

Will the sixth goal still fall in the first half?

43 min:

Werder now swimming?

The fast offensive men from Frankfurt show the Bremen defenders their limits.

Sometimes a player is danced out, sometimes he can only pant after the Eintracht kickers.

Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: Jesper Lindström puts the "Adler" in the lead!

39 min: Goooooor for Frankfurt!

That's hard to believe.

After a big chance from Werder, Frankfurt started a quick counterattack.

Lindström shows his sprinter qualities and lets Pavlenka get out.

37 min:

Now Werder is willing to take the lead again.

However, a scene by Füllkrug in the Frankfurt penalty area is not completed consistently enough.

35 min:

Another corner for Frankfurt after Pavlenka could only clear a corner with his fist.

The ball comes into Bremen's penalty area and the defense clears it.

The new corner kick brings nothing, Kolo Muani only hits the side netting.

Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: Kolo Muani equalizes!

33 minutes: Goooooor for Frankfurt!

What's going on here?!

Kolo Muani makes it 2-2.

The Eintracht striker makes the Werder defense look old and dances out three defenders.

And Pavlenka can't stop him either.

30 min:

First change of the game.

Leonardo Bittencourt has to leave the field injured, Werder midfielder Romano Schmid comes on for him.

27 minutes:

The huge chance for Frankfurt!

Lindström runs towards Pavlenka, who, however, can clear the ball in dire need and grabs the ball safely.

26 min:

Who lands the next punch?

The Frankfurters are by no means holding back and are pushing for an equaliser.

Werder, on the other hand, wants to make it 3-1, but can hardly free themselves from their own half.

23 minutes:

Double corner kick for Frankfurt.

First Pavlenka has to throw the ball out with his fists, on the second try the ball gets to Chandler, who, however, throws the ball out of the stadium.

22 min:

Now the game has really picked up speed.

The duels are gradually getting rougher, the offensive actions in both directions are increasing.

Frankfurt plays a free-kick into the Bremen penalty area in the person of Lindström, but it doesn't bring anything.

19 min:

Frankfurt scores the supposed 2: 2.

But referee Ittrich blows his whistle and Kamada's goal doesn't count.

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: Leonardo Bittencourt heads the green-whites in front!

Trapp doesn't stand a chance.

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: Anthony Jung shoots the equalizer!

14 min:

Goooooor for Werder!

After a corner kick, the green-whites switch quickly, take the second ball and Anthony Jung puts the ball in the Frankfurt goal.

12 min:

Another free kick for Werder, and the Bremen defense can clear up again.

10 min:

In the first ten minutes of the game Werder could not set any offensive accents.

So far a very quiet working day for Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

The Frankfurters, on the other hand, are pushing for the 2-0 and at least appear again and again in half of the green-whites.

8 minutes:

Frankfurt in the forward drive.

The "Adler" try it from the outside, but Kamada's cross into the Bremen penalty area finds no takers.

And a free kick from Frankfurt that followed shortly afterwards didn’t bring anything either.

5 min:

Of course Werder had imagined that very differently.

In return, the green-whites appear in Frankfurt's penalty area, but the compact defensive block of the "Adler" clears resolutely.

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: Mario Götze gives Pavlenka no chance!

3. Min:

Tooooor for Frankfurt!

After a corner from Frankfurt, the ball stays in the Werder half, Götze pulls from a distance and doesn't give Pavlenka a chance.

1. Min:

Referee Patrick Ittrich releases the game!

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt, here we go!

Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: the ball is rolling!

5:26 p.m .:

The Werder scarves are raised, the anthem is played.

Hardly a fan of the green and whites in the stadium who doesn't sing along!

The fans present, now the kickers on the lawn have to do more.

5.20 p.m .:

It starts in ten minutes!

Werder asks Frankfurt to a certainly hot football dance.

The weather couldn't be better.

The 41,000 fans in the Weser Stadium have gathered in the stands at 21 degrees, the mood is exuberant.

5:17 p.m .:

“We kept our self-confidence and our courage together,” said Clemens Fritz in an interview with DAZN presenter Laura Wontorra.

The ex-Werder player is of course referring to the 3-2 win in Dortmund and seems optimistic that the second win of the season against Frankfurt will follow.

"We want to get the courage onto the field and act together as a group," Fritz reveals the Green-Whites' match plan.

5:14 p.m .:

While Frankfurt has been waiting for a win for eleven Bundesliga games across the seasons, Werder has been without a win for seven home games in the football upper house.

The "home curse" should of course come to an end against Frankfurt.

With the offensive power of the last few games, that seems possible.

5:09 p.m .:

In general, Werder has already impressively demonstrated its last-minute qualities in the young season.

The green-whites have already scored four joker goals.

And: Werder's last three shots on goal all found their way into the goal.

It was Werder's miracle in Dortmund when Bremen scored their first goal in the 89th minute.

Will it be that exciting again today?

5:03 p.m .:

At Werder, of course, noble joker Oliver Burke is on everyone’s lips.

The lively Scot scored both of his goals of the season in the 5th minute of added time.

His rate couldn't be better.

He only needed two shots on goal for the two goals against Stuttgart and Dortmund.

4:59 p.m .:

Frankfurt have been without a win for eleven Bundesliga games across the season.

In this period there were seven draws and four defeats.

Now Oliver Glasner's team finally wants to overturn the buck.

Great expectations are placed not least on world champion Mario Götze.

The new man in the Main metropolis has scored six goals against Werder so far.

Götze has only shot more often against HSV (seven goals).

4:53 p.m .:

Patrick Ittrich is the referee for the game between Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

He is assisted by Sascha Thielert (first assistant) and Christian Gittelmann (second assistant), the fourth official is Max Burda.

Pascal Müller and Dominik Schaal are working on the video screens.

4:47 p.m .:

The balance of the last ten Bundesliga games between Werder and Frankfurt could not be more balanced.

Both teams have won three times each, and there have also been four draws.

As already mentioned, Werder kept the upper hand in the last meeting in the football upper house and won 2:1.

4:43 p.m .:

A good omen for Frankfurt?

Coach Oliver Glasner, who is celebrating his 48th birthday today, won both guest appearances in Bremen as coach of VfL Wolfsburg.

In the end there was a 2:1 and a 1:0 win.

4.40 p.m .:

So far, Werder Bremen has played Eintracht Frankfurt 102 times in the Bundesliga.

In the overall comparison, the green-whites are slightly ahead.

So far there have been 43 victories against the “Adler”.

In contrast, there are 23 draws and 36 defeats.

Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt in the live ticker: the line-ups are there!

4:36 p.m .:

The following nine players are on the Frankfurt bench: Ramaj (ET), Smolcic, Hasebe, Lenz, Chandler, Ebimbe, Borré, Alario, Knauff.

4:34 p.m .: And with this eleven, Frankfurt’s coach Oliver Glasner wants to take points from the Weser Stadium: Trapp – Pellegrini, Ndicka, Tuta, Jakic – Rode, Sow – Kamada, Götze, Lindström – Kolo Muani.

4:31 p.m .:

The following players take a seat on the Werder bench: Zetterer (ET), Stark, Buchanan, Agu, Burke, Schmid, Schmidt, Rapp, Gruev.

4:28 p.m .: The Werder lineup is here!

Ole Werner wants to win against Frankfurt with these men: Pavlenka - Weiser, Pieper, Veljkovic, Friedl, Jung - Groß, Bittencourt, Stage - Ducksch, Füllkrug.

4:15 p.m

.: The two clubs will soon announce their line-up.

3.45 p.m .:

The demo of the Werder Bremen fans has now arrived at the Weser Stadium.

Now the supporters are waiting for the stadium gates to open at 4 p.m.

Werder Bremen gegen Eintracht Frankfurt: Trainer Ole Werner fordert weniger Gegentore

Werder Bremen feierte seinen letzten Bundesliga-Heimsieg Ende Februar 2021 gegen Eintracht Frankfurt

But that's why no one picks up.

Rather, everything is done to continue on the road to success.

And February 26, 2021 should soon no longer be the day on which

SV Werder Bremen

’s last win in the

Bundesliga

was celebrated in the Wohninvest Weser Stadium.

By the way, the opponent at the time was called

Eintracht Frankfurt

– so that would fit.
