Munich/Wilzhofen – The German Sport Shooting Championships have started.

And traditionally, the airgunners are first in line.

At the start on the Olympic shooting range in Hochbrück, two athletes from the district had reason to be happy.

In the men's I class, Maximilian Ulbrich from SG Wilzhofen won the individual DM title.

He won the elimination with a tenth lead over David Koenders (Der Bund Allach).

The tension was stretched to the breaking point on the final shot.

Ulbrich's lead was three tenths.

Koenders hit a 10.0 that the Wilzhofener missed.

With a 9.8, however, he retained the upper hand.

Koenders had qualified sixth.

Ulbrich had won the preliminary round with 628.0 points.

For him it was the first men's title in an Olympic decision.

"Success means a lot to me.

I've felt a lot of pressure throughout the year, and I've been performing well lately.

But this title is of course the crowning glory, it can't get any better than that," the Wilzhofener is quoted as saying on the DSB website.
