FC Bayern Munich managed to make a profit despite the corona pandemic.
The European competition, on the other hand, had to report some heavy losses.
Munich – "Madness, really madness!" Gladbach star Christoph Kramer, 31, recently commented in an interview with
tz
on the Bayern transfer summer.
Now the transfer period is over and FC Bayern is in the best positions in Europe.
Anyone who thought that the loss of Robert Lewandowski and national player Niklas Süle would hit the club to the core was wrong.
Instead, the bosses around sports director Hasan Salihamidzic brought star striker Sadio Mané and defender Matthijs de Ligt for a total of 99 million euros.
With the purchases of Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel and Noussair Mazraoui, Bayern spent 137.5 million euros.
And this despite the announcement that they have to cut back due to the corona deficit.
How is that possible?
Merkur
has looked at the figures published by the management consultancy Deloitte (from the 2020/2021 financial year)
.
FC Bayern generates plus of five million euros
Due to the ghost games, the income on the match days fell by around 59 million euros to just 12 million euros, with CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen estimating the loss at 155 million euros.
Nevertheless, FCB was able to achieve an annual profit of five million euros.
Conversely, Liverpool (down 5m), Manchester United (down 27m), Dortmund (down 73m) and Chelsea (down 176m) were hit hard, while Juventus (down 208m), Paris Saint-Germain (minus 225m) Inter (minus 239m) suffered even more.
But the biggest minus was registered by FC Barcelona - 555 million euros!
Interestingly, even in the Bundesliga there were only three clubs that didn't record a loss: Leipzig, Bayern and Augsburg.
"Reasonable management and not spending more than we earn has helped us to make a small profit," explains Dreesen.
This was also the case during the Corona period, when Bayern were able to increase their merchandising income from 91.8 million to 100.3 million despite empty stadiums.
FC Bayern Munich makes a profit - for the 29th time in a row
The FCB has been in the black for 29 years in a row: In the four years before Corona, the record champions generated a profit before taxes of 241 million euros.
Even after that, the business flourished - despite the crisis.
Fiscal year 2021 revenue (€611m) was surpassed only by Manchester City (€645m) and Real Madrid (€641m).

The investments in Mané & Co. were also possible because the bosses learned how to sell.
The current transfer window is even historic in this respect.
Brazzo sold players for around 105 million euros, most recently Joshua Zirkzee for 8.5 million to Bologna!
By the way: Apart from the 21/22 season (free transfer from David Alaba to Real), the transfer balance sheets of the past seasons are also impressive.
From 2018 to 2021, Bayern collected 160.5 million euros in player sales.
