In the DFB Cup against BVB, Christopher Lannert had to leave the field in the first half.

Hopefully an instructive experience, says the TSV 1860 defender.

Munich – It was the first big highlight of the season for TSV 1860 Munich.

Borussia Dortmund came to the Grünwalder Stadion for the first main round of the DFB Cup.

And for Christopher Lannert it was to be even more exciting.

The returnee was allowed to play from the start for the first time.

But the evening did not go as expected.

Lannert received a yellow card after just twelve minutes, and Michael Köllner took him off the field after twenty minutes.

Maximum penalty for the full-back, who was overwhelmed by opponent Donyell Malen.

“I was very disappointed, also a bit pissed off by the situation.

But in the end I understood it too," Lannert now recalls in a video interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk about the humiliation in the DFB Cup, "it could have been bought much better."

Lannert wants to learn from the bankruptcy against BVB: "I remember what my opponent did to me"

Lannert says he doesn't really want to deal with it for too long.

It occupied him for the first day or two, then he was able to shake it off.

But he doesn't want to just check off the encounter with the runner-up and put it away.

“There are games in which nothing works.

Where everything goes wrong at the beginning.

Then you have to accept that as a player and say: I'll look at what I can do better.

I learn from it and then it probably won't happen to me again," explains Lannert.

"You have to take it as a tip what Dortmund did to us," he explains, "and I remember what my opponent did to me.

And then I know that I have to behave differently against such players in the next few games."

DFB Cup only a small damper: TSV 1860 is fully focused on the promotion mission

Learn and improve instead of grieving and checking off.

Christopher Lannert tries to make the best of the cup debacle and take something with him.

For TSV 1860, too, the 3-0 defeat against Dortmund was a “Hello, wake up!” moment.

During the great euphoria at the start of the season, there were many better chances against the favorites in Giesing.

Apart from that, things are going well for Michael Köllner's team.

The lions have set a new starting record in the 3rd division and only lost their first points on the sixth matchday in a draw against Viktoria Köln.

The euphoria was back quickly.

"I'm assuming that promotion will work out," says goalkeeper Marco Hiller, for example.
