VfL Denklingen wants to get back on the road to success in the district league.

On Friday, however, the club received bad news in terms of "staff".

Denklingen – After the first defeat of the season in the district league south, VfL Denklingen is trying to get back on the road to success this Saturday in the home game against SC Unterpfaffenhofen (4 p.m.).

Nevertheless, the personnel situation is still anything but ideal.

In fact, the opposite is the case: Markus Ansorge and his team received bad news on Friday.

Tobias Ried will be absent from the Denklingers for an indefinite period, and another appearance in the first half of the season is categorically ruled out.

Tobias Ried's cruciate ligament tear

It was apparently a harmless scene when Ried fell to the ground near the corner flag in Garmisch-Partenkirchen just before half-time last Saturday and had himself treated.

It was already clear at this point: it would not go on.

Ried limped off, supported by teammates and physio.

That alone didn't bode well.

Initially, there was talk of "knocked around" and "suspected lateral ligament injury in the left knee".

A level of knowledge that remained unchanged for several days at VfL.

By the end of the week, the devastating result of the MRI scan arrived: cruciate ligament rupture.

"That puts everything else in the background," said Ansorge, clearly concerned.

A few years ago, Ried's cruciate ligament tore.

Now, at the age of 32, the new setback.

"It's a shock, Tobi is one of the best defenders in the district league," Ansorge struggled for words.

It remains unclear whether Ried will continue in view of his advanced football age after the long healing process.

"I would still like to work with him," the coach tries to encourage.

But it is also understandable that the player now needs time to process the blow of fate and therefore does not want to make any predictions about himself.

Ansorge, meanwhile, is confronted with a mixed situation that he has never known in Denklingen.

"We're in a very difficult situation right now." Because it's not just the players who were absent last week, like captain Armin Sporer and attacker Dominik Karg, who hit the office.

No, Moritz Hemkendreis, the kicker who almost adequately replaced Ried after his injury, is also missing.

The reason for this is a vacation that has been planned for a long time, so there are no accusations from the coach.

Hemkendreis is "definitely" an option for the coming weeks.

For the time being, however, Hannes Rambach will hold Ried's position.

"Unfortunately, I have to sacrifice him from midfield," regrets Ansorge.

The litany of failures is now so extensive that Ansorge is considering a system changeover.

In addition, two or three players from the second team are on the bench, and a young kicker like Arjanit Robaj is even in the starting XI.

Ansorge is hoping for a "Now more than ever" feeling in the team, which he entertained at his home until late last Saturday.

On Tuesday, too, team building had priority over the actual training session.

Almost defiantly, the 55-year-old emphasizes that he "still" can muster a decent district league team.

But you need all the more support from outside.

A large number of spectators should shout for the home win. "We want to use this strength," said Ansorge.
