The precautionary layoff of the director general of the 2023 World Cup Claude Atcher has been "ratified", the board of directors of the Public Interest Group announced on Friday, just over a year from the start of the competition.
Atcher is replaced in his duties by his former deputy Julien Collette "until the end of the disciplinary procedure which will be initiated in the light of the investigation currently being carried out by the Labor inspectorate", adds the press release.
At the end of June, an investigation by the Labor Inspectorate was launched after an article in the sports daily L'Equipe detailing a "deep social malaise" within the GIP.
Since then, a report by the GIP ethics committee has highlighted “alarming managerial practices altering the functioning of the structure” and relating “the state of suffering of a certain number of employees”.
