Schumi's ex-manager Willi Weber remembers a gross blunder: "Michael didn't know that"

Michael Schumacher's former manager Willi Weber recently revealed some explosive stories about the seven-time Formula 1 world champion.

Regensburg - 307 Formula 1 starts, 91 victories and seven world championship titles: The statistics of motorsport legend Michael Schumacher are breathtaking.

None of this would have been possible if his manager of many years, Willi Weber, had not discovered him in 1988 and supported him accordingly.

The now 80-year-old has not worked for Schumi for years and has no contact with the family of his former companion.

Nevertheless, he recently told some stories from his time together with Schumacher.

Weber, who used to be called "Mr. 20 percent" because of his generous manager contract, has accompanied Michael Schumacher's career since he started out in Formula 3. The young racing driver gradually developed his potential at the beginning of the 1990s and got his first in 1995 and 1996 both world titles.

Manager Weber remembers fan article faux pas: "But Michael didn't know that"

The manager at the time, who was increasingly responsible for merchandising after being replaced by Sabine Kehm in 2010, was also responsible for the Schumi fan articles.

As he said, baseball caps for the fans of the successful driver were produced for every world championship title.

However, the merchandising concept once failed for one simple reason.

"Accidentally I had 100,000 pieces produced and afterwards he didn't become world champion," Weber recalls and admits: "But Michael didn't know that.

But he was very superstitious.

If he found out, he would have gone insane."

Weber also revealed a boozy story.

Schumacher, who is now 53, celebrated his first world championship title in the service of Ferrari in 2000.

“All of Italy celebrated and drank until the early hours.

Michael drank so much Bacardi-Cola that he was completely dense and poured buckets of champagne over everyone he caught," Weber recalls of the good times.

A few years later, however, the relationship between driver and manager died out.

Weber does not believe in reconciliation with the Schumacher family: "I'm done with it"

At the time of the momentous skiing accident involving the Formula 1 icon in the French Alps in December 2013, contact between Weber and the Schumacher family broke off.

Shortly after the tragic news, the Regensburger “made a mistake” that he “regretted a thousand times”, as he told RTL last year.

Weber, who was on vacation at the time of the accident, insisted that he "should have flown down immediately" after the terrible news.

Unlike ex-Ferrari team boss Jean Todt, who still visits Schumacher regularly today, Weber no longer belonged to the narrow circle.

Since then, Schumacher's wife Corinna has "erased him from her life", there was apparently no more exchange between the two sides.
