According to coach Ryan Foster, the friendly match between the Tölzer Löwen and Deggendorfer SC this Friday (7:30 p.m.) will be “a big challenge”.
Bad Tölz
– Konstanz: At the moment everything at the Tölzer Löwen revolves around this term.
Coach Ryan Foster sees changes in which his players go full throttle and play heart-warming ice hockey.
And the next time, his team is inattentive, doesn't work properly on defense and loses all duels.
This should work better in the home game against Deggendorfer SC this Friday (7:30 p.m.): "It will be a big challenge for us," predicts Foster.
"The team looked tired"
In the 5-2 win against the Austrian second division club Zell am See last Friday, the performance was still "okay", says Foster.
“But on Saturday in Zell the performance wasn't right.
The team seemed tired, didn't run and didn't work hard.
If we only give 70 to 80 percent, we have little chance of winning games in the Oberliga with this young team.” In the past few days, after the training sessions, he has therefore spoken a lot with the players and done a lot of video analysis.
He hopes his team will work better on defense against Deggendorf.
Danyel Waizmann: "He puts his heart and soul into it - that's the most important thing"
However, there are some players that Foster doesn't need to worry about going onto the ice with the right attitude.
First and foremost defender Danyel Waizmann, who has played in the foreground in recent weeks: "He puts his heart and bite into it - that's the most important thing," said Foster.
"He shows that he wants to belong to us and works hard." Apart from that, Waizmann plays a good first pass.
Foster therefore wants to give the 19-year-old the chance to prove himself with the lions.
Newcomer Felix Ribarik: Not a grenade offensively, but in top form and aggressive
The coach was also convinced by try-out player Felix Ribarik.
"Offensively he's not a grenade, but he has experience in the premier league, is in top form and plays tough, aggressive ice hockey.
We need him as a backup on the defensive.” Foster is satisfied that the signing worked out.
Deggendorf among five best teams in the Oberliga
In the home game against Deggendorfer SC, the coach expects a lot of resistance.
In his opinion, Lower Bavaria is one of the four or five best teams in the Oberliga.
They have a lot of experienced players and two good goalkeepers in their squad.
The test match results also indicate a balanced game: Just like the Tölzer Löwen, the Deggendorfer won their test match against Zell am See 5:2.
In order to have a chance of winning, his team must minimize the number of errors and be fully focused for 60 minutes.
The lions will appear almost at their best, striker Oliver Ott is the only player who has to take a break: he has an upper body injury.
