The news caused great sadness in the Dorfen ice hockey camp.

The longtime team leader of the Dorfen Bayernliga team Heino Duge died at the age of 75.

Dorfen

- He and his family went on a bathing trip to Lain am Erlensee.

He died while swimming after pulmonary embolism and heart failure.

At the end of the 1980s, Duge volunteered for the ESC for the first time and has been at his club's service ever since.

Always with his sailor's hat as an external trademark of his origin, but also with the ice pirate outfit, the native of Hamburg was a team leader with dedication and passion.

With his calm and balanced nature, he was extremely popular and a competent and helpful contact person for the team, coaches and board.

The enthusiastic amateur filmmaker captured the most important scenes in almost all Bayernliga games and thus provided valuable audiovisual analyzes for the coach and team.

He prepared the match reports, supported the ice champions and often distributed the team's meals after the games at away games.

He also kept the scorer lists and helped with the stadium notebook.

Heino Duge moved to Dorfen in 1985 with his wife Veronika shortly before their son Andy was born and lived in a house in the Moosen settlement.

His daughters Melli and Steffie were already born then.

His grandchildren Pia and Odin also gave him a lot of joy.

For many years he commuted to Munich by train, where he worked as a technical employee at ESG until he retired.

For more than ten years he was also a valued part-time delivery man for the local newspaper, with which he was out and about early in the morning – even if he had returned late the night before from an ESC away game.

The Duge couple liked to travel in their camper van and traveled through half of Europe.

In September 2017, his beloved wife preceded him in death.

But Heino Duge was able to rely on his children, so that he, as always, was able to take care of the needs of his ice pirates almost as a "hands-on" until the end.

Heino Duge leaves a big gap in the ice pirates, although his daughter Steffie has been following in his footsteps for a long time and has recently been increasingly committed as a prudent team leader.

The funeral service followed by the urn burial will take place on Saturday, September 17, at 11 a.m. in the funeral parlor at the Dorfen cemetery.
