Thiago Motta finds himself on the bench in Italy.

The former PSG midfielder will become Bologna's new coach on Monday.

The Emilia-Romagna club currently occupy a disappointing 16th place in Serie A, pushing its leaders to part ways with Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic, in office since January 2019. If the arrival of the Italian-Brazilian has not yet the subject of an official statement, the statements of Claudio Fenucci, general manager of the club, left little room for doubt.

“We have decided that the coach from Monday will be Thiago Motta.

I tell you officially, ”he assured at a press conference.

For Thiago Motta, this will be his third experience as head coach.

The Italian-Brazilian had first cut his teeth coaching the PSG U19s before taking charge of the Genoa team for a disappointing record of 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses and only two and a half months in job.

The sequel proved more successful on the bench of La Spezia, bottom club, which he managed to maintain in Serie A last season.

In France, PSG fans keep a very positive image of Thiago Motta despite his few physical glitches.

The former transalpine international (30 caps) ended his career with the Parisian club, where he had become an essential cog in the midfield, alongside Blaise Matuidi and Marco Verratti.

During his last match in the jersey of PSG, he was treated to an ovation from the Parc des Princes when he left.

As a coach, Thiago Motta cut his teeth and took the lead… Until one day taking the reins of PSG?
