SV Werder Bremen lost the Bundesliga game on matchday 6 against FC Augsburg at home 0-1.

The game report of the DeichStube.

Bremen – It's getting crazier at

SV Werder Bremen

: The promoted team once again offered their fans a spectacular final phase of the season on Friday evening, but ended up experiencing a small fiasco at the Wohninvest Weserstadion.

The 0:1 (0:0) defeat against the actually badly battered

FC Augsburg

was almost a minor matter.

Because only became

Marvin Ducksch

with his missed hand penalty to a tragic figure deep in stoppage time, then some Werder fans wanted to storm the field because FCA keeper Rafal Gikiewicz had pointed somewhat provocatively to the east curve behind him after his penalty save.

Shortly thereafter it was over: thanks to a goal by Ermedin Demirovic (63rd), Augsburg were able to celebrate an unexpected victory.

Werder, on the other hand, were without a goal of their own for the first time this season and also lost keeper Jiri Pavlenka, who had to go down injured after half an hour.

Werder Bremen

's coach

Ole Werner

made a change compared to the 2-0 win in Bochum a week ago: Königstransfer Jens Stage returned to midfield, but Niklas Schmidt had to be on the bench.

“Augsburg will increasingly focus on long balls.

There will be a lot of duels in the air and for second balls.

Jens certainly has his strengths there,” explained Ole Werner before the game.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Augsburg: Michael Zetterer replaces Jiri Pavlenka – Niclas-Füllkrug-Tor does not count

But even Stage couldn't prevent the Augsburgers from taking command immediately.

No trace of uncertainty in Enrico Maassen's team after three defeats in a row, but a lot of courage and fight.

Werder Bremen

couldn't cope

with that at first.

After just 90 seconds, keeper Jiri Pavlenka had to show full commitment against Florian Niederlechner just before the goal line to prevent the 0:1.

A little later, the already beaten Czech was lucky that Niederlechner stumbled and was unable to complete the shot (8').

After all, Werder defended themselves – physically and playfully.

They went forward quickly, but most of the time Bremen acted too imprecisely or were too harmless in the end like Stage (10th) or Marvin Ducksch (14th).

After half an hour,

Jiri Pavlenka raised

his hand and nothing worked.

He injured his right thigh during his first save and then bit through it for a long time.

Michael Zetterer

came in for him

and made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 27.

But it got exciting on the other side: Niclas Füllkrug – who else?

– artistically headed a free kick from Ducksch into the goal (31st).

Huge cheering in the Weser Stadium, which was sold out with 41,000 spectators.

Until the video assistant reported and sent referee Martin Petersen to the screen at the edge of the field.

Lo and behold: Anthony Jung was just offside and actively intervened as a blocker.

So no goal for

Werder Bremen

, a right decision.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Augsburg: Ermedin Demirovic scores to make it 1-0 for FCA

Both teams gave nothing further, things got tough.

Good football wasn't played, but good work was done.

Also from newcomer Zetterer, who first had some problems with an arc lamp, but then came out excellently twice and got applause from the scene.

"

Augsburg

have had one or the other action in the penalty area, so the 0-0 is just about fair," said the injured Bremen midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt during the break at DAZN and wished that his team played more forward.

But there was no sign of that after the break.

Werder Bremen

found it difficult to present themselves as dangerous.

Especially since Augsburg continued to be aggressive.

Only a header from Ducksch, which Rafael Gikiewicz was just able to defuse, provided an offensive sign of life again (61').

But the guests were even livelier and were soon able to celebrate Ermedin Demirovic making it 1-0 (63').

But what, if you please, had Füllkrug been doing there?

After a clarified corner, which was returned promptly, the striker simply let opponent Mergim Berisha run, apparently hoping for offside.

Not correct!

Berisha passed in the middle and Demirovic keeper Zetterer didn't stand a chance there.

No undeserved lead for

FC Augsburg

.

Ole Werner

reacted immediately – with a triple change: Oliver Burke, Niklas Schmidt and Ilia Gruev (67th) came on for Christian Groß, Romano Schmid and Stage.

But the guests had the next big chance, but Berisha lifted the ball off the crossbar (76').

Werder Bremen

stayed in the game, but time was running out for the hosts.

Schmidt tried it from a distance, but failed.

Then came Lee Buchanan, who just a few hours earlier had been awarded the league's "Rookie Award" for the month of August.

Mainly because of his goal in the brilliant comeback in the 3-2 win in Dortmund.

Of course, the fans also hoped for that against

FC Augsburg

.

And again there was great excitement in the final phase.

Marvin Ducksch

shot the ball to Bauer's hand, referee Petersen immediately pointed to the point.

The Augsburgers couldn't believe it, they grumbled endlessly and tried everything to get the penalty shooter Ducksch out of concentration.

And Werder Bremen's attacker, who was still goalless this season, was actually denied by Augsburg's keeper Gikiewicz.

He provoked the Werder fans in the east curve, some of whom wanted to storm the pitch.

Bad scenes at the end of a tough game with a bitter end for

Werder Bremen

and especially for Ducksch.

46 min: Referee Petersen whistles for the second half!

9:28 p.m .:

Immediately before the game between Werder and Augsburg, Werder’s stadium announcer Arnd Zeigler was awarded the Fair Play Prize of the German Football Association (DFB).

During the derby against HSV in September 2021, he managed to use a microphone to calm down a totally upset Weser stadium from one moment to the next with just a few factual words.

That has now been rewarded accordingly.

9:20 p.m .: And referee Petersen whistles at halftime.

A turbulent 45 minutes in the Weser Stadium come to an end, in which both teams were able to demonstrate their offensive qualities several times.

So far it hasn't been enough to get just one goal.

Füllkrug's header goal was disallowed by the VAR.

Augsburg, on the other hand, has a trio in front with Berisha, Demirovic and Niederlechner, which constantly causes danger.

45. +1 min:

And again Zetterer, which is now warming up!

Hahn is sent through a long ball and runs towards Werder's box.

But Zetterer sprinted out and headed the ball 18 meters in front of his goal.

But the VAR reports directly.

Jung knows how to clear the free kick with his head, corner kick.

22 min:

Niederlechner keeps appearing dangerously in Werder's penalty area.

Sometimes the Augsburg striker gets out corner balls, sometimes at least throw-ins that keep the ball at least in half of Bremen.

Niederlechner can also get a throw-in against Jung.

19 min:

Werder has not yet had the standards in this game.

A corner kick lands at Weiser, but he doesn't catch the ball properly.

The game device sabers past the Augsburg goal.

18 min:

Meanwhile, substitute goalkeeper Zetterer is getting ready for his possible assignment.

A card is not worth the referee Petersen.

8 min:

And then Werder has its first offensive action.

A cross finds Ducksch's head, but the ball sails straight into the arms of keeper Gikiewicz.

6. Min:

The first minutes of the game belong to the Augsburgers, who at least occasionally have an offensive urge towards the Bremen goal.

Werder, on the other hand, doesn't let anything burn, but can't put a pinprick forward themselves.

3. Min:

Short moment of shock for all those who stick with Werder: Niederlechner gets the ball in a promising position, but referee Petersen whistles directly offside.

2 min: First dangerous action of the game!

Niederlechner puts the ball into Werder's penalty area and it's cleared with a combined effort.

The following corner brings nothing.

1. Min:

Referee Martin Petersen releases the game!

The first game on matchday six, the match between Werder and Augsburg, is about to begin!

Werder Bremen vs. FC Augsburg in the live ticker: the ball is rolling!

8:24 p.m .:

It’s about to start!

Once again the mood in the Weser Stadium is great, the rain shower can't spoil the good mood of the Werder fans in the slightest.

8:17 p.m .:

Will the last-minute kings from the Weser strike again today?

Bremen scored seven of the twelve goals of the season from the 86th minute, five of them even in overtime.

That is also the Bundesliga record for a team at this early stage of the season.

8:12 p.m .:

The match between Werder and Augsburg is directed by referee Martin Petersen.

He is assisted by Guido Kleve and Robert Wessel, Florian Lechner is the 4th official.

Guido Winkmann and Philipp Hüwe are in action on the video screens.

8:10 p.m .:

Ole Werner is not particularly fond of being asked about the table.

But we in Bremen also know how quickly things can change within a season."

8:06 p.m .:

Werder coach Ole Werner reveals in the Dazn interview what is important for his team today: “We have to go into duels and sometimes get the second ball”.

Then the coach is confident that his team can make the match positive.

8:04 p.m .:

Werder mainly accepted the return to the Bundesliga with their heads.

So far this season, Bremen have scored five goals with a header, which is also the best. Augsburg, on the other hand, takes last place when it comes to creating chances with your head.

Only five attempts are recorded here.

Werder Bremen vs. FC Augsburg in the live ticker: Niclas Füllkrug with special memories of FCA

8 p.m.:

It starts in half an hour.

Werder striker Niclas Füllkrug should be particularly hot.

The offensive man scored his first Bundesliga goal against Augsburg more than ten years ago, in the service of Werder.

And: As a Hannover 96 player, he also scored his first double in the top flight against Augsburg.

In diesen 20 Bundesliga-Partien konnte Werder 32 Tore erzielen, Augsburg knipste 35 Buden.

Werder Bremen gegen FC Augsburg im Live-Ticker: Die Aufstellungen sind da!

19.35 Uhr: Sich das Spiel erstmal von der Seitenlinie aus ansehen müssen bei Augsburg folgende Kicker: Klein (ET), Framberger, Pedersen, Baumgartlinger, Caligiuri, F. Jensen, Maier, Petkov, Vargas.

19.33 Uhr: Auf der Bank von Werder müssen sich vorerst folgende Spieler bequemen: Zetterer (ET), Agu, Buchanan, Stark, Goller, Gruev, Rapp, N. Schmidt, Burke.

19.31 Uhr: Augsburg-Coach Enrico Maaßen wiederum schenkt folgenden elf Kickern das Vertrauen: Gikiewicz - Gumny, Gouweleeuw, Bauer - Gruezo, Rexhbecaj - Hahn, Iago - Niederlechner, Berisha, Demirovic.
