Will there soon be a third French driver in Formula 1?

While Alpine recently announced that it would bring together the two Habs on the board, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, under its banner from next season, the young Théo Pourchaire, 19, will make his official debut in Formula 1 during the first tests free from the United States Grand Prix.

He will be driving an Alfa-Romeo on Friday October 21 in Austin.

Pourchaire, currently 2nd in the Formula 2 championship, is considered one of the great hopes of French motorsport.

He had won the Monaco F2 GP in May 2021. The young Grassois was also named the Alfa-Romeo team's reserve driver for 2023 on Thursday after the renewal of the contracts of his current incumbent drivers, the Finn Valtteri Bottas and the Chinese Zhou Guanyu.

"We are delighted to give him the opportunity to take part in his first free practice session next week," said Alfa-Romeo Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur.

It's a well-deserved opportunity and I'm sure he'll impress us again with his performance.

He will help the team to gather important information before the United States GP.
