Nagelsmann flies his own statement around the ears: "Then he has to let him play"

Bayern newcomer Mathys Tel used the few chances that Julian Nagelsmann gave him.

A statement before the start of the season is now catching up with the coach.

Munich – Manuel Neuer did not classify the 2-2 win against Borussia Dortmund as a setback, but it felt like a defeat.

Anthony Modeste's last-minute equalizer caused Bayern unrest again.

Sky expert Lothar Matthäus warned Nagelsmann that he "must not lose the cabin".

The reservists' dissatisfaction grows faster with every game they don't win.

One of them is Mathys Tel. The 17-year-old striker can certainly not yet claim to be in the starting eleven.

However, he has strongly recommended himself for assignments.

Choupo-Moting instead of Tel: Bayern coach Nagelsmann in the criticism

Matthäus does not understand why Nagelsmann replaced Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting against BVB instead of Tels.

He refers to a Nagelsmann statement: "Before the season, Julian Nagelsmann says that he expects ten Bundesliga goals from Tel - yes, then he has to let him play," Matthäus demands.

Tel has already scored in both the Bundesliga and the cup, and it's well worth seeing.

After all, Choupo-Moting was able to put his name on the top scorers list in the 5-0 win against Viktoria Pilsen.

Matthäus explains why he thinks Tel would have been the better choice against BVB.

"He's also a fast player who, because of his speed compared to Choupo-Moting, who has more experience, might even have been the more interesting player because Dortmund had to come," he explains.

"He didn't bring it.

Something like that is of course observed and discussed in the dressing room.”

The decision against Tel alone will not ensure that Nagelsmann loses the support of the Bayern players.

Rather, it is the sum of such small things that could actually put him in a difficult position at some point.

He's still firmly in the saddle.
