The youth work of the SpVgg Unterhaching is known throughout Germany.

With Maurice Krattenmacher, the next top talent is already convincing.

What is Hachinger's secret of success?

A visit to the sports park.

Munich

– Listen to the tiger, it's worth it.

Sandro Wagner knows that too.

The SpVgg Unterhaching coach recently watched video recordings of his team with Hermann Gerland.

The message from Gerland: "If you want to do me a favor, then please always let Maurice play." Maurice Krattenmacher played - and promptly scored twice in the 5-2 win over Vilzing.

The sports park rose and cheered for Haching's next gem.

Krattenmacher moved to Haching from FC Bayern youth and has been playing there for six years now.

"We saw right away in the first training session what kind of talent we had," says Marc Unterberger, head coach at the youth academy at Spielvereinigung.

Last season, Krattenmacher scored 23 goals in 20 games in the U17 Bundesliga – outstanding figures for an attacking midfielder.

The 17-year-old has been a permanent fixture in Wagner's regional league squad since this season and has already made ten appearances (two goals, two assists).

Last summer there was special training for Krattenmacher.

The focus was on speed and strength, the talent put on 4.5 kilograms of muscle strength.

SpVgg Unterhaching: Krattenmacher best example for youth work

Krattenmacher is a down-to-earth, shy guy.

"I felt comfortable here from day one," he tells our newspaper in the Wirtshaus am Sportpark.

Krattenmacher recently graduated from the Alpenland business school in Bad Aibling.

President Manni Schwabl was personally present at the certificate presentation.

"It's very remarkable that he didn't make a fuss about his footballing skills - all the teachers told me that.

Maurice is incredibly humble,” says Randolf John, director of the business school.

This is part of the concept at Unterhaching.

Not only athletes, but also people are developed here.

"If a player only makes himself important because he often hits the plastic ball, that's no use," says Schwabl.

The youth work of Unterhaching belongs to the elite of German football.

The youth go ahead.

"The recipe for success is certainly that we treat people normally and sensibly," says Unterberger: "And don't cheer players up after three months and then put them down when things aren't going that way anymore."

SpVgg Unterhaching: Krattenmacher the next windfall?

The model pays off.

The example often cited here is of course Karim Adeyemi.

As a 16-year-old, the striker moved from Haching to Salzburg for over three million euros.

Adeyemi now plays for Dortmund, with the transfer Haching taking six million euros thanks to a resale clause, with the option of two performance-related payments of one million euros each.

"Maurice can certainly be Haching's next transfer of millions," says Schwabl.

A question of the market.

The contract runs until 2023, with an option to extend it to 2025.

Krattenmacher appreciates the Hachinger environment and knows that he was and is supported here in the best possible way.

"Most young players who take part in a U17 European Championship and play in the regional league probably call their advisor twice a day to see if they can switch to a Bundesliga team," says Schwabl.

Maurice Krattenmacher: When will the next step come?

Krattenmacher is someone who decides games.

Distinctive sense of space, strong dribbling and dangerous in the end.

One who performs magic on the pitch – and has long been a crowd favorite in Haching.

"Those are those special moments when only one person on the sports field knows what's going to happen next - and his name is Krattenmacher," says Unterberger.

Of course, the attacking artist notices that interest in his person is growing.

But Krattenmacher is concentrating on working with Wagner and just wants to play football: "The Bundesliga is my dream.

But before that, I still have a lot of hard work to do.”

But there are already songs of praise.

"He's the best young player at 17 I've ever seen - and I've seen a lot," says Wagner.

"Maurice is the most prolific midfielder, including assists, that I've seen at youth level in recent years," says Gerland.

All parties are aware that the exceptional talent will take the next step sooner rather than later.

One way or another, the Unterhaching fans will look forward to every further game in which a 17-year-old enchants the sports park.
