Following Darren Hilliard's injury, Maccabi Tel Aviv responded quickly and announced this evening (Saturday) the signing of Jaylen Adams for three months with an option until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old American combo-guard (1.91 m), played last season for Hapoel Jerusalem and will now join coach Oded Ketch's back line.
"Adams has very good and well-known offensive abilities," explained the coach after the signing.
"There is a situation where we need another creative guard for the rotation and he will be able to help us. I am happy that he is joining Maccabi."
"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to play for a prestigious organization like Maccabi Tel Aviv," Adams told the club's official website. "There is nothing like the tradition and culture of this team.
I look forward to joining a team that already has a lot of talent and helping it compete for titles."
Adams is able to play both guard positions and is considered a player with courage and a scorer who also knows how to deliver.
Last season in the Jerusalem uniform he scored 15.1 points, pulled down 3.4 rebounds and gave 3.3 assists on average per game in the regular season.
In the seven playoff games of the Reds from the capital, he provided averages of 13.4 points (50% for twos, 38.7% from threes and 84.6% from free throws), 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 aces per evening.
In Hapoel Jerusalem's nine games in the FIBA Champions League, Adams led his team's scorers with 17.8 points (40% from three), collected 4.6 rebounds, gave 2.9 assists and stole 1.3 balls on average per game.
