After a rich career, mainly in titles, Franck Ribery announced yesterday (Friday) his retirement from football at the age of 39. In an interview he gave to the Italian "Gazzetta", the former French international provided a number of gems.
"I knew this day would come, but everything happened very quickly and it hurts. I will have to undergo surgery just to live a normal life," said Ribery who played last season in the Italian Salernitana uniform, with whom he managed to survive in Serie A.
Ribery added: "Today's young people get a lot of money right at the beginning of their career. They buy a lot of things and lose appreciation for important things. To this I tell them: 'At the age of 19? She was on the street, in the third division in France, with nothing.'"
