Munich – The career end of Franck Ribéry, the legend of FC Bayern, has been certain since Friday.
The 39-year-old was forced to hang up his football boots due to injury.
Most recently, Ribéry played for US Salernitana in Italy, but has only made two competitive appearances this season.
Now it's finally over for the old star.
FC Bayern: Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben won 20 titles together
After the end of the Frenchman's career, his former teammate Arjen Robben made an emotional statement on Instagram.
"It was always a great pleasure with you on and off the pitch," said Robben via Instagram.
In addition, it was and will be the Dutchman "always an honor to be part of Robbery".
Robben also ended his career due to injury in 2021.
"Robbery" still stands for one of the most dangerous wing pincers in the history of FC Bayern.
Between 2009 and 2019 they played together for the record champions and won 20 titles during this period.
The greatest moment was probably the 2013 Champions League final win against Dortmund, when Ribéry prepared the acclaimed winning goal for Robben.

It made him particularly sad that he wasn't allowed to decide for himself when to stop playing football.
Now an operation is probably necessary to relieve the pain permanently.
Ribéry was already plagued by a number of injuries when he was at Bayern.

Ribéry moved from FC Bayern to Italy to Florence in 2019 and two years later to the promoted team from Salerno.
While the Frenchman was still a regular at Fiorentina, his injuries at Salernitana were struggling.
The 39-year-old missed 15 games last season, this year it was only enough for one short appearance in the league and in the cup.
