After the race, Sebastian Vettel revealed how much fun he had in this fight for points: “I knew that I was faster than Kevin.

The last two corners were adventures because I knew that there is very little space.

After the race, Max Verstappen has mixed feelings.

Vettel fights a real fight with Magnussen in the last few meters, but the German can win it.

He crosses the finish line in eighth place.

Verstappen has to pay attention to his track limits, because Hamilton has a very close look at him from P2.

The Brit is obviously hoping for a win here in Austin - but the Mercedes are also really strong on the track.

Nice neck-and-neck race between Hamilton and Verstappen.

Nevertheless, the Briton has no chance against the world champion in the Red Bull!

After a brief struggle, the Dutchman is in P1, but Hamilton isn't quite ready to be shaken off.

Schumacher had a small touch with Latifi and falls back to P15.

Things are also looking bad for Vettel.

His team messes up the pit stop that lasts almost 17 seconds, dropping him from second place to P13.

It lasts eleven seconds.

The worst: Leclerc's pit stop is going great and he can drive out in front of Verstappen.

Perez is now in P1 and has Vettel on his heels after Hamilton had another pit stop.

Verstappen is way ahead of Hamilton.

Leclerc is hot on Perez's heels with DRS.

Vettel remains on P6 and if Schumacher continues like this he could go home with at least a point.

23/56 laps:

There are many car parts on the track, but the race is not interrupted.

Alonso misjudged on lap 21 and crashed into the rear of his future teammate Stroll!

Luckily nothing happened to either driver.

Unfortunately, Stroll has to retire from the race, but Alonso can continue after a tire and front wing change.

The race is on, but not one lap later the next violent crash happens and the safety car comes out again!

We have the first safety car!

Bottas turned in too early and ended up in the gravel next to the track.

Luckily nothing happened to the Finn, but unfortunately he cannot finish the race.

Of course, the other drivers take advantage of the moment and come into the pits.

Vettel is in P6 and Schumacher is in 13th place.

Verstappen and Russell pitted in quick succession.

Perez lands on the 1 for a short moment before he drives in to the pit stop.

Schumacher wasn't there yet and is currently P9 in the points.

Vettel is still holding up well in 4th place.

Vettel had to give up his 6th place to old teammate Leclerc in the Ferrari.

The first drivers are slowly making their way to the pit stops.

Hamilton ends up in P7 after his, behind Vettel.

Verstappen is now more than 12 seconds ahead of second!

6/56 laps:

Verstappen is already lonely doing his laps at the front.

Hamilton is not close enough to start an overtaking maneuver.

Russell, meanwhile, has already received a 5-second stop-and-go penalty for colliding with Sainz.

Meanwhile, Vettel is in P6 behind his team-mate and Mick Schumacher has fought his way up to 16th place.
