The Reds officially responded to the events of the Winner's Cup final: "According to the evidence we have, a young man was caught and severely beaten, the police officers on the ground were without name tags in complete violation of instructions and procedures, this omission is improper to say the least and very suspicious"

Today (Monday), Hapoel Tel Aviv published an official response to the events of yesterday's Winner Cup final against city rival Maccabi, during which the Reds fans protested against the conduct of the police and left the stands at the Shlomo Group Hall.

"Since the half of last night's game, we have been receiving testimonies and difficult photographs about the serious, agitated, violent and definitely disproportionate conduct by the police forces at the Wiener Cup final yesterday in Hadera.

According to evidence we have, the incident started with the unauthorized praying of a young man on the court, who was caught and severely beaten by the police, and as a result, the police acted with unbridled violence towards the rest of the fans around him, fueling the passions and blocking the entrance to the hall for hundreds of people who wanted to return to the stands at the end of the half.

The sports fields need to be a safe place for all the fans, and too many times we are exposed to the brutal and violent behavior of those who are supposed to maintain order and calm down.

According to the police order, a police officer must identify himself with a uniform and a name tag. The police officers in the field were without name tags, in complete violation of the instructions and procedures. This omission is improper to say the least and very suspicious, since those who act proportionately according to the automatic police response should not have a problem identifying themselves sweeping

A license to police is not a license to beat and is not exempt from criticism and/or punishment for violent behavior."
