China's Li Bingjie broke the women's 400m freestyle world record in the Chinese qualifiers for the world short course championships today, nearly three seconds short of the previous record set by Australian Ariarn Titmus.
Li set the record of 3:51.30, beating the previous world record of 3:53.92 set by Australian Olympic champion Titmus at the 2018 World Championships in Hangzhou, China.
The 20-year-old was part of the gold-medal-winning Chinese 4x200m relay team and also won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
Lee is also the world champion in the 400 meters and 800 meters freestyle short circuit.
