Manuel Neuer will also not be available for FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga game against Mainz 05 on Saturday.

A goalkeeper in the Champions League on Tuesday against Inter Milan is also out of the question.

That's what Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said at a press conference before the twelfth matchday.

“Nothing will work against Inter, hopefully next weekend.” In the Bundesliga there are still games against Hertha BSC, Werder Bremen and FC Schalke on the program.

The 36-year-old is still on a break with a shoulder problem before Germany's World Cup squad is called up on November 10.

It is not a structural injury, said coach Nagelsmann, but the joint needs more rest, but the goalkeeper has resumed running training.

Goalkeeper Neuer played his last game so far on October 8 against Borussia Dortmund.

Nagelsmann said: "We let him play against Dortmund, that was maybe a bit too early."

With the Qatar World Cup being moved to late autumn, the schedule has become even tighter.

The German national team's World Cup opener in Qatar is scheduled for November 23 against Japan.

When asked about Neuer's ability to play at the World Cup, Nagelsmann said: "I'm assuming he'll play the World Cup, but if he's still in pain in five weeks, he won't play it." Nagelsmann said he wasn't a clairvoyant, but he was optimistic that Neuer will be there in Qatar.

Neuer has been the German number one since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He became world champion in 2014, when Neuer missed part of the preparation due to a shoulder injury.

The keeper also went into the 2018 World Cup finals.

Because of a long-term foot injury, Neuer went to Russia without match practice, after the preliminary round it was already over for the then title holder.

Marc-André ter Stegen from FC Barcelona and Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp were recently Neuer's substitutes.

At FC Bayern, the captain of the Munich and DFB selection is represented by Sven Ulreich.
