SC Riessersee collects an unnecessarily large number of penalties in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd game against the EHF Passau Black Hawks and thus throws itself out of the game, but still easily wins 5:2.

Passau – SC Riessersee won 5-2 away at the EHF Passau Black Hawks.

It reads confidently, it was - but with drawbacks.

Because against the youngest team in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd, the SCR could have won much more if it hadn't weakened itself again and again with plenty of penalties.

Riessersee returns the 2-0 lead

It became clear right from the start: Passau, who had started the season with four wins but then suffered three defeats before a narrow 3-2 win in overtime against Klostersee followed, saw themselves pushed straight onto the defensive.

The SCR pushed the pace.

The first jubilation was a bit long in coming.

The second-best power play team in the league was only able to prevail against the hosts when they had a majority.

First, Robin Soudek missed, but Kevin Slezak used the rebound.

The deserved lead, which was quickly extended.

EHC licensed players Veit Oswald and Luca Allavena threw up the Passau defense before Simon Mayr made it 0-2 with a margin shot.

Looked like a relaxed Friday night for Riessersee's coach Pat Cortina.

But his men still worried him.

First the guests survived being outnumbered, but the second ended with the hosts scoring a goal.

With these penalties, the SCR took the wind out of its sails.

And only 79 seconds later it was 2:2, because the white-blue once again actively supported the opponent in scoring goals.

The equalizer was preceded by a bad pass from Jan Niklas Pietsch.

third break.

SCR goalie Michael Boehm prevents another equalizer

Back on the ice, the whole game almost repeated itself.

First, the SCR did well because he quickly carried the disc forward to Tobias Kircher, who made it 3:2 from the guests' point of view with a considered conclusion.

But then two more penalties followed, which interrupted the flow of the game for Cortina's men.

In addition, the Riesserseer presented themselves unstable outnumbered.

Passau kept finding gaps in the defensive network with simple passes.

It was only thanks to goalie Michael Boehm that the lead was not gone again.

Lubor Dibelka proves his class

In the five-on-five it became clear how great the superiority of the guests really was.

How high they could have led if they hadn't always decimated themselves.

The best example of this was the 4:2 for the SCR.

The Black Hawks went too fast, leaving Lubor Dibelka completely free in front of goal.

But instead of finishing straight away, the German-Czech proved his class.

Dibelka stopped the disc, let the EHF goalie come, rounded him loosely and pushed in.

SCR collects a lot of penalties, but Passau cannot take advantage of that

It could have been so easy that evening against the limited players from Passau.

The biggest opponent for the SCR was himself, because he continued to get penalties and because he sometimes acted too carelessly on the defensive.

Didn't change in the final third either.

Passau remained in the game and dangerous because a Riesserseer needed two minutes to think.

The away win was not in danger.

The Black Hawks simply did not have the means to really get the Garmisch-Partenkirchner in trouble.

In addition, Oswald, who was highly praised in the run-up to Cortina, showed why the 58-year-old Italo-Canadian thinks so much of him.

Completely blank in front of the hosts' goal, Oswald rounded the goalie and then put it back through his own legs to Kircher - 5:2.

Tongue-clicking ice hockey.
