French N.1 Caroline Garcia will compete in the WTA Masters in Fort Worth without Bertrand Perret, the coach who allowed her to win three titles in 2022 and climb to 6th place in the world, announced this last Friday to the daily
L'Équipe
. .
“
In recent weeks there have been problems.
They ended up spoiling the atmosphere and I preferred to stop.
I do this job for fun and there were fewer of them
,” Perret told
L’Équipe
, without giving further details.
Garcia had been working since last December with Perret, who managed to restore her confidence and clarify her style of play. Under her guidance, the Lyonnaise rose from 75th to 6th place in the world by winning three titles (Bad Homburg, Warsaw and Cincinnati ) and climbing into the last four of the US Open.
Garcia, 29, is playing Monday for the second time in her career in the WTA Masters, an event bringing together the eight best players of the season.
For her first participation, in 2017, her best season so far, she made it to the semi-finals, beaten by Venus Williams.
